As someone who used to reguarly spar with 16oz gloves, you can definitely get KO'd with them. Of course its harder to do because the size means the punches are easier to block and hand speed is slower, but if it lands correct it can do damage. Large gloves are mostly for hand protection. kickboxing doesn't use 16oz gloves..pretty sure they use 8oz....guys only use 16oz in sparring during training.

If kickboxing is like boxing, the lighter weight classes use 8 oz but the heavier weight classes use 10oz

But unlike him and most kickboxers, Israel did have much more MMA experience. He was 7-0 in MMA when Pereira KO'd him.

After 15 minutes of sweat, its like having 5 pounds on each hand.

Try sparring with 18 oz or competing with 20 oz as a HW in Golden gloves. Shit sucks.

Not sure about that, striking with 4oz gloves is so much different from kickboxing. Lots of elite kickboxers have been KOED by wrestlers.

Yeah that is kickboxers going to MMA. But in this case it would be an MMA fighter in Costa kickboxing kickboxers with 16 oz gloves like Israel did, which wouldn't go well for Costa.

I can guarantee you that i've sparred with 16oz gloves a shit load more than Costa. Been boxing since i was 12 and boxed amateurs, most of these mma juice heads never even laced up a pair of boxing gloves until they were grown adults, I'll leave it at that.
