stop asking disingenuous questions so you can troll on them ...

you know the answer bucko

???
His post is simple. He just says the US has more deaths in Italy. Why is that? Were we less prepared? Did we encounter a greater shortage of medical equipment? Less hospital beds?

Is the US prepared for this?

As the worlds biggest market the handling of this and choices made both Pre and Post Coronavirus arrival to the US, by its officials will be key to analyse and watch to understand the impact the virus will have on the citizenry, the world Markets and beyond.

Confidence in the leadership will lead to citizens following instructions, taking the necessary steps and the Market impact being minimized. COnfidence lost will result in the opposite.

Pre Epidemic Preparedness:

There was a clear belief stated by the Trump Admin as they cut preparedness that such capacity, both human and supplies, could be rebuilt quickly and on demand as needed.

- Trump Has Sabotaged America’s Coronavirus Response
As it improvises its way through a public health crisis, the United States has never been less prepared for a pandemic....In 2018, the Trump administration fired the government’s entire pandemic response chain of command, including the White House management infrastructure.

Post Epidemic Handling:

Testing and Early Isolation are keys to minimizing. That is built around having a robust testing infrastructure to identify and then isolate the infected.

Where does the US stand?

  • UK: 7,132 concluded tests, of which 13 positive (0.2% positivity rate). [source]
  • Italy: 9,462 tests, of which 470 positive, awaiting results: unknown (at least 5.0% positivity rate). [source]
  • France: 762 tests, of which 17 positive, 179 awaiting results (at least 2.2% positivity rate). [source]
  • Austria: 321 tests, of which 2 positive, awaiting results: unknown (at least 0.6% positivity rate). [source]
  • South Korea: 66,652 tests with 1766 positives 25,568 awaiting results (4.3% positivity rate). [source]
  • United States: 445 concluded tests, of which 14 positive (3.1% positivity rate). [source]

Whose in Charge:

The History of these types of Medical Emergencies is that the top Gov't officials, The Doctors and Scientist in Charge are given unfettered access to the media and citizenry to be able to address questions, allay fears, and give precise and actionable information. Citizens take comfort in that knowing politics is not driving messaging and the information they are being given is accurate.

Trump has changed that by putting Mike Pence (His VP) as point person and telling all gov't officials all information must funnel through him.

Pence's only history in dealing with such issues should be of great concern to all. He is of the 'pray the "XXX" away" camp, instead of looking to science or medicine for guidance.

Mike Pence, who enabled an HIV outbreak in Indiana, will lead US coronavirus response

Pence has a track record of ignoring public health evidence

Mike Pence claimed “smoking doesn’t kill” as late as 2000

So what is the Confidence level of the Market and Citizens?

We all know that a crisis like this or the 2008 Financial Crisis can shake markets. But confidence that there is a steady hand directing things can quickly stabilize things and allow for a much quicker return to normal. We saw that very quickly with the Obama Admin handling of the 2008 Financial Crisis which lead to the current growth and prosperity America has been enjoying for the last 12 years. Now the Trump Admin is thrown into a similar challenging environment and we will see how they handle it. If they quell fears and inspire confidence, and thus the markets stabilize and bounce back quicker or if things worsen and continue to decline due to a lack of confidence.

The Stock Market Is In Free Fall On Coronavirus Fears. How Much Worse Will It Get?

The U.S. stock market has officially plunged into correction territory—at the fastest rate ever recorded, suffering its worst losses since the 2008 financial crisis this week amid ongoing panic over the spreading coronavirus and its impact on the global economy.

------------------------

These are all things that need to be watched to gauge the extent of damage the Virus will do to the US citizenry and the Markets. How much worse or better things get will be directly tied to the above.

I'll keep updating this as things progress.

In the early days of such crisis how it is messaged and the public Trust can be as important as what is happening on the ground.

Without public confidence people may not trust officials and follow instructions. It is important that those in charge are perceived as truthful and knowledgeable and open. The history of such crisis in the US is that the top scientific or medical professional typically are open to the media and public to address these questions and concerns even if the news is not always good. That inspires far more confidence typically than appointing a Politician who may fear they or their party could lose votes if THEY are seen as not handling the issue well.

The contrast typically being regimes like China who choose to try and restrict and lock down information and make sure only the party line it discriminated thru the appointed gov't official.

What has the US done and which direction are they going?

Trump’s reckless coronavirus statements put the entire US at risk
..This morning, President Trump seems to have wished a vaccine for the new coronavirus into existence. “I think that whole situation will start working out,” he told reporters at a press conference in India. “We’re very close to a vaccine.”

Mike Pence ‘not up to task’ of leading US coronavirus response, say experts

...As an aspiring congressman, Mike Pence once claimed “smoking doesn’t kill”. As governor of the midwestern state of Indiana, he faced heavy criticism for his handling of the situation when the state experienced the worst HIV crisis in its history.

It’s a track record that meant Donald Trump’s appointment of Pence on Wednesday to lead the US response to the coronavirus was met with immediate outrage from health specialists,

Trump gutted the US READINESS as he was reflexively looking to purge anything Obama put in place. Trump's position was that the US cold get rid of readiness and instead react in and 'On Demand' way as any Pandemics or things like that came up.

Trump Has Sabotaged America’s Coronavirus Response

...For the United States, the answers are especially worrying because the government has intentionally rendered itself incapable. In 2018, the Trump administration fired the government’s entire pandemic response chain of command, including the White House management infrastructure. ..

...Building on the Ebola experience, the Obama administration set up a permanent epidemic monitoring and command group inside the White House National Security Council (NSC) and another in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)—both of which followed the scientific and public health leads of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the diplomatic advice of the State Department...

...
But that’s all gone now.

In the spring of 2018, the White House pushed Congress to cut funding for Obama-era disease security programs,...

What is the VERY REAL result of Trump gutting READINESS?

We see it play it out in testing blunders writ large in real time as the US now scrambles to play catch up and fix errors on the fly as the pressures mount...

Lol its nice to look back at how all this unfolded..trumps fuck ups will be so easy to trace back

Are there other states like Michigan where the residents are about to start a civil war? Our governor extended the stay at home order with more restrictions. People continue to flaunt the rules and are threatening to riot.

Anyone see Michael Rappaport's rant on trumps daily briefings?
You can definitely tell hes from NY

But what does Ja Rule have to say about this?

Obviously he's a little bitter maybe a one week stay at Donald Trump's condo unit will ease the bitterness. WoW

For the last several months, Trump has been a xenophobic racist bigot endangering the lives of Chinese immigrants in America with his reckless, anti-China rhetoric.
Now he's a Chinese puppet?

This episode sucks, there are too many plot holes.

It's language. Trump does one thing well, is he muddies intent. He says so much dumb shit a day that his followers can manipulate it like Christians justifying mixed fabric and shrimp cocktails. It's also the language he uses

Hell even with the travel ban, had it come from Obama people would have been like "oh fuck.. this is serious" but from Trump of course people that don't live on Sherdog or Reddit questioned it. That's the issue with your reputation having zero respect, naturally people question the source.

Also we know Trump loves China in a lot of regards, the dude loves dictators in general, but his daughter made bank of China. He talks big bout the people coming from the Middle East, but he blatantly lied or ignored a journalist being chopped up and literally vetoed the end of US monterary support of the genocide against the Yemenis.

Now that son in law, who further imbedded American citizens into complicit genocide, who is apparently actively seeking fucking over his tenants in a crisis like this is in a major position designed to help the average American?

Y'all fucking goose stepping to your own demise.

Anyone tried covering themselves in the blood of Jesus yet?

Is it a genuine cure?

I don’t know..........doesn’t seem to be working too well in Israel.

I’ll see myself out now.

Good point, I wonder how many people in Michigan (23,993 cases) caught the virus as a result of Joe Biden's Detroit rally Mar. 9, or Bernie's rally in Chiago (17,887 cases) on Mar. 7

"Protests erupt at Biden’s raucous Detroit rally"
https://www.politico.com/news/2020/03/10/joe-biden-detroit-protests-sanders-124874

“Today we make it clear that the only way we beat Trump is with a campaign of energy, excitement and grassroots activism. That is our campaign,” he said to a crowd of at least 10,000 people, predominantly younger supporters who frequently chanted “Bernie, Bernie” amid a sea of outstretched blue and white campaign signs."

And away he slinks...

I don’t know where I heard this but somebody said listening to trump yammer on in this here tweet is like listening to a six year old explaining, to a bunch of other six year olds, about something that he overheard from some eight year olds.

To the dipshits saying the vents are dangerous
That’s not what the articles mean so fucking stop it
They mean the ventilatory strategy used for ards isn’t appropriate for these patients. They still need vents.

We are cutting back on peep, keeping tidal volumes higher and leaving the concentration of oxygen higher (fio2)

Did you miss the whole trade/tariff war we have been going through? Relations between us and China have been dogshit since Trump took office.

Perspective on why I am not for extreme quarantine outside of the population dense Northeast megalopolis (Boston-Washington corridor).

For the 2018 flu year, outside of the 6 mostly contiguous N.E. states of NY, MA, CT, MI, NJ, PA, the rest of the nation had a total of 46,000 flu deaths.

Those same states (remember not including the 6 mentioned) so far have had a total of 6800 coronavirus deaths. It is possible that those states will eventually see 46,000+ coronavirus deaths, but consider that the majority of the flu deaths occurred in the peak months of December, January, February and March.

In order for CV to reach 46,000 deaths it would need to extend its peak period to well beyond a 4 month time. That is not likely.

The vast majority of the nation, county for county, is seeing a time rate of coronavirus deaths BELOW the time rate of flu deaths for recent flu seasons.

There are at least 20 states (just to venture a number) that probably do NOT need to be banning church services and California is one of them.

So, you’d prefer to return to the bend over and take it policy of the Obama administration?

???

We have 7 times the population and Italy is half the size of Texas?

This is what people miss when praising trumps policies that benefit them short term..and most of his are of that nature

Damaging the china relationship long term undercut the potential to better deal with a crisis like this..a friendly nation will rather warn and give you better and more info on its problems than a hostile one
