I'm talking about stockpiling them. Obviously we need to replinish them if we use them. N95s cost like $0.50 per unit. For a billion dollars we could get 2 billion masks and throw them in a warehouse for a rainy day.
They do, actually. Thats been a problem here. We've had tons of masks that have begun to dry rot.
I imagine they have an expiry date. No reason they couldn't be rotated out / sold at cost to hospitals when they were approaching the date and replaced, thus maintaining a standing stock that is ready.

The way SK did it at least for tests was the very day they saw the need, they already had the legislation and strategy and agreements for scalable manufacturing ready to go - four private companies immediately started cranking out test kits the day the administration said the word. That could be in place for any supplies.

That's because we (well I do) like you when you're not being a Political troll and we are simply ignoring you. Why don't you just give it a rest for a while? Nobody needs your brand of devisive bullshit right now. :)

Well, @Bloody Pulp , who I was talking to, he didn't seem to be moaning like you. He asked for links since he was on his phone, and I had no problem providing them for him.

You're free to address the information I provided him, as well.

*divisive, you know, like division.:)

I think you need go read the article you linked again, mate. This is embarrassing for you.
Here is your link that I was responding to: https://khn.org/news/trump-administ...-to-be-first-in-line-on-medical-supplies-ppe/

And this has happened a few times now. Please read shit before you post it, if you want to discuss the links you post.

And what did they use the act for? Oh yes, to outbid the states for the supplies their taxpayer dollars already paid for, and through the nose.

"The Trump administration quietly invoked the Defense Production Act to force medical suppliers in Texas and Colorado to sell to it first — ahead of states, hospitals or foreign countries."

Great job!!!

It's revolting

Dr Birx: 120 US labs have Abbott high output testing equipment for 3 weeks. Problem 80 percent of the machines sit idle at labs and none of these labs informed the US reason why? 0nly 88,000 have been tested out of a potential 1 million just in hospital workers.

Other problem is that distributors are jacking up prices on masks and other PPE by 5 to 6 fold yet no action to enforce newly pass policy to stop price gouging.

Dr Brix had to ask the VP for permission to call the labs to press them to take action. What a mess labs and hospitals are dragging their feet now.

This is a misrepresentation of what happened in the press conference.

Lets follow that chain:

Just last week every reporter in the conference room was screaming at Trump for not using the Defense Production Act. Now he invokes and everyone screams about that. Can you just pick a stance and stick with it?

He invoked it on GM, and hasn't done anything except that regarding the DPA. Toothless bullshit as always from these people.

Me: My premise is that Trump was criticized for not invoking the DPA, and now that he is, everyone will criticize him for using it.
You: No, that's not true. Trump refuses to use the DPA because he is toothless!
Me: Actually, look here. He is using it quite a bit.
You: WELL ITS REALLY BAD THAT HE IS USING IT

I consider my premise proved. Only took 3 steps.

This your first time with this group. Hang on there are four more of them coming to piss and moan after they figure out their argument on discord

Article headline had me a bit worried, but it actually looks solid. Headline of "Trump team crafts plan to open economy"

But then reading the article two things stand out.

1) No economic or political advisers were invited to this planning meeting. It was purely the health experts.

2) This is only to start having a health focused groundwork in place if the crest of the peak from the data continues to show for the next few weeks.

Trump listens to this plan, and it's timing of begining, instead of being swayed by businessmen crying about the economy, it'll be a solid Trump win.

The US death rate basically tracks the European average (US is the higher green line, not labelled).
I hate that we are sitting around bickering about whether Trump or Dems are to "blame", when it doesn't seem like our response is actually that bad compared to other western countries. The real difference to me seems to be just all the eastern countries fair far better, because they deal with this shit all the time. Everyone in South Korea put on a mask the first time they saw Wuhan in the news.

Yeah the packaging goes bad. One of the hospitals I work with got a huge pallet of masks from the government stockpile. Much of the packaging was outdated but most were still usable.

An interesting theory that the virus may have reached California last fall.

"Researchers at Stanford Medicine are working to find out what proportion of Californians have already had COVID-19. The new study could help policymakers make more informed decisions during the coronavirus pandemic.

The team tested 3,200 people at three Bay Area locations on Saturday using an antibody test for COVID-19 and expect to release results in the coming weeks. The data could help to prove COVID-19 arrived undetected in California much earlier than previously thought.

The hypothesis that COVID-19 first started spreading in California in the fall of 2019 is one explanation for the state's lower than expected case numbers."

My wife had the worst cough for 2 months in Nov Dec. Horrible, worst cough ever. My daughter and I around the same time got a mild sore throat and mild cough.

My wife swears she had it.

But if this is true why did more people not get affected at that time. Seems crazy this thing could infect people at that time but not spread like wildfire around the holidays

I'm confused, isn't that exactly what liberals wanted? States complained that they were competing with each other for PPE from suppliers and that the Fed should be distributing PPE. Well, what exactly do people think that looks like? It means the Fed buys it all up and distributes it where it is needed. How is that not exactly what the state's wanted?

Yeah I think it is a little dubious. Why would Californians not suffer as bad as New Yorkers? It the theory was true it would indicate the virus was far less severe for Californians which doesn't make a lot of sense.

Both my kids go to UC schools, one in a dorm and the other in a sorority house and they were both sick as heck in February/March. They tested negative for the flu. I would not be surprised if they had it. I spent several days with them during that time but never felt ill afterwards.

Both my kids got hit with something I hadn't seen before back in January. Neither complained about anything, they just had a fever and both just wanted to lie down in bed all day. They are both spazzed out little kids, and I've never really seen them like that before, even when they are sick.. Two days later they were back at it like nothing happened. His friend from hockey got hit with the exact same symptoms too.

Maybe we are trying to create connections where they don't exist. There are plenty of other bugs out there that can do that to a kid. Whenever I hear a story like yours (I've heard a lot of them now) it makes me wonder though. If we test and find out we have the antibodies, I'll be awfully suspicious that we got it back in January.

Its possible you are asymptomatic. I'm thinking they should try to test anyone giving blood in California. I'm actually thinking of heading down to Costco to give blood

Yea. I totally get what you are saying. The thing about my wife is that this was the worst she ever got hit with anything. I was seriously worried. And we went to urgent care twice. The shit doctor there just brushed it off both times. And she tested negative for the flu. There were a couple of nights I damn near took her to the ER. But this was in Nov.

And this shit went thru here work like a madman(she works at Costco). Employees were hacking like crazy in Nov/Dec
