No more so than any other infectious disease that kills people. If this was going to "change everything" why is it the second SARS virus we've seen this century? Why didn't the world change after Swine flu (which infected 65 million americans and killed 13,000) or Bird flu?

I don't think it will be very comforting to for the people who lost someone to the virus, to remind them that other people lost loved ones to different viruses in the past.

No ones saying that people will be wearing masks for the rest of human history. What a stupid straw man.

Your own lord has admitted that we'll likely see a death toll of 100,000-250,000. Granted he lied about that possibility for quite some time. Is that why you're having trouble pivoting to the new talking point? Trying to make sure trump doesn't reverse course and go back to saying this would be over by April?

Yet this is the 4th pandemic of this century.

Thats not what straw man means. I didn't say anyone said it. Use the term correctly, especially when implying someone is stupid.

Trump didn't just make up that number. 250 K is worst case scenario, which Anthony Fauci explained in detail. He expects the number to be lower.
Things will begin returning to normal more quickly than you think and more quickly than you notice. By the end of April, most everyone infect now will have recovered. There will be no reason why those people won't be able to return to work. By the end of April, we may have completed clinical trials for different drugs and could, in the best case scenario, possibly have effective treatment by then. The whole country isn't going into shutdown until there are literally no cases of covid19.
Once that happens, experts will say its OK to go see a movie. Or go to a concert. Or buy groceries without restriction. By summer of 2021, people will be back to life as normal. Billion dollar industries aren't going to go away. People aren't going to self quarantine forever. People will begin traveling again. This is not the end times. Civilization is not over.

Yet this is the 4th pandemic of this century.

You know just because we referring to multiple outbreaks as "pandemics," does not mean that they are exactly the same right?

Thats not what straw man means. I didn't say anyone said it. Use the term correctly, especially when implying someone is stupid.

You make retarded straw man arguments all the time. Here's you doing it several times in the very same post:

The whole country isn't going into shutdown until there are literally no cases of covid19.

This is not the end times.

Civilization is not over.

No one is making these arguments. You're railing against bullshit for no other reason than, since trump downplayed it, you are obligated to do so as well.

That’s not at all true. There’s a study that shows it’s not effective.

It’s way too early to make a conclusion based on anecdotal evidence.

at any rate, we will know soon if it’s the real deal - as it’s widely being used now

It was rated the #1 treatment for Covid by doctors.

I'm cool with listening to them doctors

Ah, so that makes up for no stay at home order by the president, his admin dismantling our preparedness for pandemics, bungling the tests to this day, and being incapable of allocating desperately needed supplies, thus forcing the states to compete against each other on the private market?

This is the idiot who called himself a war time president, then said the federal government is the backup team for the states.

How can you defend this guy's character while he gets thousands killed?

An abject failure of leadership when needed most.

<{cruzshake}>
I really doubt it. People are struggling now just to stay at home for a couple of weeks.

People have see their 401ks cut nearly in half. They have been or are afraid of losing their job. If they still have a job then they have family or friends that have lost jobs. This is gonna be really bad dude. Like biblically bad. The real estate crash is coming next.

This is going to be the big hurt for a few generations not used to any pain at all.

Cliff Notes.....WE BE FUCKING FUCKED!!!

And don’t forget it didn’t have to be this way....

SK less than 200 people have died. 10k confirmed cases after an outbreak that’s lasted a month now.

Trump failed. Now we are the worst hit country. And it’s not going to get better.

He's kind of right though. State government is there for a reason. We can't just have a warehouse of everything every state needs for every possible situation. New York, for example- 8 million people live there. They didn't all move there when covid19 hit. They've been there. Its been one of the most populace states since it was a state. How are they so unprepared? Because of the guy who has been president for the last 3 years? Thats unreasonable and you know it.

You could not be more wrong.

Trump can not force people in NYC to not cram in to subway cars RIGHT FUCKING NOW as their fellow NYers cram into hospitals to die.

Meanwhile, in Seoul people distance themselves in mass transit ALL wearing masks even though there is no crazy emergency

No president can turn NO CARING New Yorkers into CARING South Koreans

The federal government superceding the states is pretty basic stuff. Trump has still not initiated the Defense Production for anything but to coerce GM, has appointed morons to important positions of the response to this crisis.

This is after years of privatizing government operation, fucking with relevant agencies and their funding or staffing along with putting lobbyists at their heads, removing the point man for the CDC in China, dismantling the WH task force to coordinate pandemic responses, and spent months saying this shit was a hoax, just like the flu, and it would go away like a miracle.

He's now saying he, the wartime president, is the backup to the states, his admin gives supplies to the states in which their governor's kiss his ass, and he blames the hardest hit states as being complainers and lying about their needs.

He's a psycho, bro, and patently incompetent. There's no way around that anymore. It's been two months and all these people have, STILL, is "It's gonna be great, the stuff's on it's way, stop complaining!!"

Federal gov't superceding (the fuck? how do you spell that shit?) state gov't doesn't absolve state gov't of any responsibility towards its preparedness to the people. If people were honest and blamed our entire government for being unprepared, I'd agree with that. Its clear that basically everyone was unprepared for this as we're seeing all over the world. Saying Trump should have somehow known we'd need thousands and thousands of ventilators all of a sudden is unreasonable.

Yeah, disaster preparedness is coordinated by the federal government. They're the ones who are supposed to be in charge. The rules don't magically change when Trump is incompetent on the level he has been, thus requiring the states to fend for themselves.

I mean, the fed is giving life saving supplies to corporations to sell to the states. is that not an absolutely insane way for the administration to function? They're allowing corporations to profit off of a pandemic, and causing people to die, all while telling doctors who are combating a pandemic with scarves and homemade masks that help's on the way, soon, just stop complaining.

Bro there are a million things Trump could have done from day one that would have put us in better shape

it’s actually an easy puzzle to solve, contact tracing, testing, social distancing, etc

You think Singapore and SK aren’t densely populated too? They are. And they already dunked on this outbreak and their economies are fine.

How did they do it? Well, they aren’t lead by a dunce who must be convinced the world is ending before he decides to take action —-

Easter? Nah look at these numbers

It’s under control, there are only 15 cases —-

nah there are 100,000

He leads by failure, meaning he waits until the situation has escalated to catastrophe before he takes action

That’s because he doesn’t have the imagination or creativity to solve problems in a precautionary manner.

.
Its up to the state to petition the federal government. Otherwise, there'd be no such thing as a federal stockpile. No one is just blindly sending out medical supplies to the states.

I edited out the rest of your post because I don't know about that.

There's a lot of truth to this. We don't give a shit about each other enough to inconvenience ourselves. A good friend of mine owns a convenience store and he can't believe how much garbage he is selling to people when they are only supposed to be out for essentials. He says maybe 1 out of 10 people actually comes in there to buy milk, eggs and the like. Most people are going there out of boredom for scratch off lottery tickets and giant cans of cheap beer.

You sound insane. I'm seriouS. FUCKING NEW YORK CITY IS NOT FOLLOWING SOCIAL DISTANCE RIGHT NOW! Trump can not physically force it!

South Koreans DO practice it.

It really is that simple.

Using your logic, Deblasio and Cuomo should be hung in public.

Quit blaming someone out of hate and realize that South Koreans are different than Americans.

They've been begging for months. Trump and his admin's best response is to give corporations the materials instead of doling them out directly, thus allowing the corporations (let's be real, there will be no oversight from Trump or the GOP) to price gouge and pit the states against each other.

So many governors have spoken out on this, to no avail.
