It's a balancing act. Letting people work but not overwhelming the medical systems.

Finding the perfect balance is hard but there is no doubt it involves some level of distancing for everyone not just the vulnerable

This guy is clueless and I can say this because my family is full of MD's an viral immunologists. They say the reason why numbers are lower is because people are following orders lift it now an people will need guns to protect their food supplies.

Orange county is one of the most conservative areas in the Country. He's not an immunologist or has any connections with working with viruses so his understanding is based on his area.

He wants to be treating COVID patients lift the orders he will have plenty of work. One area in Florida post ending the orders have seen hundreds of new cases one area. Hes opinions is hardly end all be all for the country. Remember there are Doctors in Southern California who were subscribing weed for head colds. Now I have no problem with weed but money is easy to make doctors turn into quacks.

comparing 1918 to 2020? A majority of jobs in 1918 were manufacturing and factory jobs of course there was an increase after the lockdown.

Women didn’t have jobs.

There were no gyms far less hair salons and other similar small businesses.

So fucking stupid.

In the neighborhood I live in, there are many doctors residing here also. Yesterday while out for a walk we ran into a doctor out doing yard work. He began talking about the COVID virus and how it has effected his work, how it has effected others he knows, along with patients and the economy. The neighborhood doctor was sounding similar to the LA doctor in the video, and the doctor in our neighborhood is not conservative.

My sister is a viral immunologist with "university chair for 7 of those years" over 30 years experience my brother-in-law is an OBGYN "hardly an expert" my niece's two of them are both board certified Doctors all say the same thing that things are working changing will make things worst come the fall. This is hardly rocket science we have not contained the spread we only reduced it and weather effects its spread. We need to continue to reduce the spread or make slight changes to help small businesses but this is only 2 months we went through a year after 9/11 and the previous pandemic was 2 years. This is hardly a stretch of time 2 months and we are making strides.

Not to the extent they do now that’s an absolute fact. The list goes on, doctors, dentists, nail salons, hair salons....

There is no way to compare the economy now and in 1918.

@PEB yeah I don't get the logic behind people saying the virus isn't a big deal because of the numbers were low once everything was in lockdown. They were lower BECAUSE of the lockdown and the numbers were still crazy. Fear makes rationality go out the window.

I agree for the most part but think the country needs a plan to begin reopening. Curbside retail and the like. Certainly PPE and other precautions need to be a part of the plan. I think people would feel better if there was more talk about what a safer reopening would be like.

Lets just be realists here, there is a decent chance there will never be a vaccine for this covid19. I don't believe there are any vaccines for any of the corona viruses. We can't just wait and hope someday it will happen. Strong and collaborative leadership should be working on ways to get to a new normal.
