Coronavirus - How is your work handling it?

I work in Telecoms as a technician for Australia's largest Telco company, all office staff are to work from home until further notice. The future is uncertain, they've been doing job cuts before this even happened...this is just going to make it worse. My mate has been made redundant then this happens., couldn't pick a worse time.

They’re making me and two other people prep all the “mission critical” people to work from home. The number of people deemed mission critical keeps doubling every week. So basically they won’t close until all those people are ready to work from home, but they will never be ready to work from home because they keep deeming more and more people as critical.

Basically, they ain’t doing shit. And I just found out one of my coworkers, with whom I am often in direct contact, was exposed to someone who tested positive and has been symptomatic for a week. They told him to keep coming into work and never notified anyone. Luckily, he took sick leave and quarantined himself. But still, I am kind of pissed because my wife is coming down with something.

Got shut down for a month here in Shanghai, back at work this Monday, I went from 223lbs to 236lbs, had a great time on lockdown now I have to work but no flights to Japan or LA for me for quite some time.
if this is true, since you seem to be of nearly authentic sherdog poster size, how did shanghai come to return to work? is China actually recovering?

i don't work.. i was in vocational training for yoga... but i bombed that.. as of late i am technically a neet. but as for daily life: the yoga studio i attend is closed, 24 hour fitness is open and the boxing gym i go to is open with restrictive measures.

Company I worked for is business as usual but they are pieces of shit.

Company of the girl I date (freight forwarder.. 200 employees) has most staff working from home and supervisors and managers take turns to go to the office.

No difference. My most paranoid agents went home last week and it's just me, the manager, and about 3-4 other people most days. Home sales are still strong!

Still working but clients and vendors are dropping like flies. I'm booked out about 2 weeks, when I'm usually booked out 12 months.
I'm in oil and in Alberta, so I am pretty much fucked.

Well I was hoping my employer share price was gonna tumble. Would have dropped 10 to 15k on... but the fucker has been going up in price! #bullshit

Wife is off for weeks now.
Im off for a few weeks.

Bunch of pussies.

Yes it’s true, as far as Shanghai is concerned they have recovered very fast, at first we were told we’d be back a week after cny then it was pushed back, many offices opened two weeks ago ours opened yesterday.

There is still an 8pm curfew where all stores must close (usually stores close 10pm).

Reading person accounts on weibo and friends posting on wechat things are looking better.

Schools are still closed. As are cinemas and Disneyland etc

Well, the toilet closest to where we work is closed and the soap dispensers by the sinks are really watered down.

We are being "offered" unpaid leave and though where I work is still business as usual, other areas are dead, so colleagues are worried about layoffs.

People here in the UK really don't seem to give a shit about others with life struggles, just tell people to go home, not pay them and let the government pay Statutory Sick Pay, which is around £90 a week for everything, not enough to cover bills, rent etc. Some people are talking about working with it.

We’re trying to set it up so everyone can work remotely from home. So far it looks like I’m going to have be the first one at the office that will need to take advantage of it because my kids’ daycare closed, so now my wife and I are going to have to switch on and off through the week who works from home to watch the kids vs going into the office. Only two of my coworkers have kids as well and their wives are on maternity leave, so the closure of schools and daycares only affects me. The rest of my colleagues don’t have kids yet.

Industrial hygiene is up like 500%, demolition is almost the same, and abatement is down 50%

My job as a census taker has changed to just leaving the packets at the door but no contact and we've been told there's a chance the census will be postponed all together.

I shut down my food truck. I'll get back to it once the census is over

We also closed the yoga studio and BJJ school

My job has ordered everyone to work from home until further notice.

I work in a nursing home, kitchen staff, and in the last two weeks they’ve banned family members from visiting their loved ones and any outside visitors, and this past weekend they banned residents from eating in the dining room so now their pretty much stuck in their rooms. Had one old dude drop a curse filled rant on me about the state of the facility when I tried to pick his dinner tray up.

More hours, apparently no taxes. Preemptive quarantine/isolation since I work with vulnerable individuals.

you might have to pick a different vocation entirely if corona spreads.

I would say nursing homes are essential fields and they have to be staffed in order for the residents to receive proper medical attention, food, and have a clean facility. All staff is screened daily for any abnormal temperatures and the place is pretty much on lockdown, as I’m sure nursing homes across the country are.

Only on paper, they’re putting these regulations into play that just aren’t practical or enforced. They’re just covering their asses. Rather not share my company. It’s not as if they don’t care it’s just the nature of the beast.

I wonder how the porn industry is handling it, lol
