Coronavirus - How is your work handling it?

We do not have any confirmed cases in our county. The county just had a meeting to determine a course of action. I think our courthouse will get shut down to the public which affects my business. As long as banks keep operating as usual, we'll have to keep open.

Business as usual for now, we're getting 2 laptops for the guys who have kids to work from home as schools and day cares have been shut down here. I'm in Alberta and it seems to be just starting to spread here.

Business as usual but remote policy being forced on for most employees outside of ones who are required to be on site. They are implementing strict guidelines for not overtaxing the VPN such as no video conferences, just audio.

I agree. I'm talking about the mortgage side which is incredibly busy now with the interest rate. The backroom processing people are often in large offices with many employees. Some don't have capabilities to work from home in place. My wife works in one of those and she's working from home. She was already set up to work from home, but most in the department are not.

Study after work, mostly from 8pm-1am, up for school or work at 7am. School schedule fits ...tightly...with work schedule. Son and wife are extremely supportive.

I work in a machine shop. Everyone works with their hands and touches the same coffee pot. We were told were gonna follow the states orders and are encouraged to stay home if sick and will contact the state if its brought to our attention that an employee has been diagnosed.

Looks to me like the Government is preparing to announce a total shut down of the country for a couple weeks. I’d expect that announcement is coming sometime this week. If they do that, my work can go tuck themselves to death if they try and pull some bullshit. Then again, I’m in a position where I can just take my talents to a different place if they fuck with me. I’m not too worried either way as I’m not a paycheck to paycheck kind of person. I have funds.


My chick just texted me earlier saying her company is going to start working remotely starting tomorrow -she’s in the corporate world tho so they can do that.

Good to hear your company is doing that. I work in the Manufacturing industry too and the place I’m at right now doesn’t seem to have a plan.


That’s why I have my own plan, if the state shuts down, I shut down. Simple as that.
