Containment is possible. China has already written the playbook. The question is whether we are willing to pay the economic, political and legal cost for it.

Otherwise, we have to depend on community mitigation such as avoiding public gatherings, personal hygiene and self-quarantine.
 
Playing devils advocate here , are some countries not taking much action because old people , who are the ones most at risk , are expensive to take care of long term, are some governments thinking, that in the long run this will save money ?

this is fucking bullshit you can’t use China as the blue print to containment. You do not know for a fact that they are being effective.

Yes it is effective. Virus transmits through human contact. Limit human contact and the chain of transmission is broken.

In the USA this industry is powerfully lobbied. They don't want you dying, they want you hooked up to life support or in a nursing home so they can continue to take your money and public aid.

Not sure but NAIJ is a union not a government agency, and as a union they are frequently demanding things that the government doesn’t authorize. My guess is that you aren’t allowed to haphazardly put up heath posters in a federal imm court ... it has to be approved from the center.

If it was up to NAIJ they’d never have to decide any cases, their salaries would be tripled, they would all go on immediate paid leave during the Coronavirus threat period, and they could post anything they like around their courtrooms as long as it doesn’t violate the Constitution. But that’s not how their systems are run; the immigration judges are on a short leash.
