Cormier to Conor: "Don't get slept!"

Dan was in a competitive fight with the best 205er ever and held his own.

conor is gonna get white washed in an cash grab fight meant to exploit the clueless mma fans.

Like it or not, cheering for Conor is cheering for MMA. The entire sport will lose credit if he's humiliated and KOed in the first round.

it really won't tho. the whole thing is a money grab. nobody will care if conor gets stopped in the first. nobody expects anything of him.

boxing has more to lose than mma. if conor survives all 12, it'll be a pretty big black mark on boxing.

I wish DC had won, but that gif emote is god's gift.

<DCrying> reminds me of a little kid who couldnt get his mom to buy him mcdonalds . Some sherdogger said that I cant unsee it.

It's a money grab for sure, I think everyone realizes that. It's the casuals with their lack of understanding of both sports and the MSM that I'm afraid will lose respect for MMA if he's destroyed in the 1st. But you're right, boxing can lose a lot too with this fight.

I disagree and feel in no way obligated, as an MMA fan, to cheer for Conor. In fact I hope he gets utterly embarrassed in a laughable manner so that everyone who tuned in for this shitshow feels stupid.

MMA will survive Conor being beaten senseless, and a positive outcome might be that fight fans won't want to pay to see tbis kind of garbage again for a long time. Forcing future MMA title holders to stay put and defend their belts.

Well, boxing is one facet off MMA, this will show the gulf(or not) btw MMA boxers and pure boxers.
There is zero chance of a first Rd ko, this is Floyd not iron Mike.

If he goes the distance against Floyd, that'd be the second win for him in the fight.

First one was making the fight happen.

I agree with you partially. Certainly losing to McG in kickboxing wouldn't lower Mayweather's stock like losing to another boxer, especially if kicks were decisive in the loss, or diminish the sport of boxing. I don't agree with you that the sports are completely different and therefore I don't agree the outcome says nothing about MMA. If one of the best strikers in MMA loses a boxing match, I, for one, will take that to have implications that his losing a chess match would not have.

I didn't say it says NOTHING about MMA. What I am saying is it doesn't discredit the sport of MMA as others had suggested.

to me it would say that MMA boxing is not on the level of Pro boxing which to me is pretty inherently true.

Nobody? Ok bud.

elite strikers means competing in striking at a championship level and being successful. nobody claims mma fighters can do that (at least nobody with a brain).

Floyd has what 26 KO's on his record? That's more than Conor's total MMA fights.

Depends on how bad he wants to embarrass McGregor. He could just jab him 5000 times and cruise to an easy win or he could wear him down and take his head off mid fight. Mayweather has all kinds of fun options.

McGregor however has a 75 million payday....

We can mock McGregor all we want for how absurd this fight is but the payday alone makes it worth any humiliation he will endure. And it doesn't hurt his MMA career (if he chooses to come back) in the slightest.

It does hurt MMA in general to have a boxer beat the crap out of a top MMA fighter but clearly WME and Conor don't care about that. There is no way this fight would ever have happened under the Fertitas reign.

You're not arguing with me on that point, I think even the best strikers in MMA get mirked in high level boxing and kickboxing. But the idea that "no one" claims that just tells me you haven't been on sherdog that much. It also says that you're not listening to actual MMA fighters and guys in the sport.

uhh i've been here for 13 years.

mma fanboys think mma fighters are elite strikers. even mma fighters don't consider themselves elite strikers.

sherdoggers calling mma fighters elite strikers is just sherdog being sherdog.
