Cormier to Conor: "Don't get slept!"

uhh i've been here for 13 years.

mma fanboys think mma fighters are elite strikers. even mma fighters don't consider themselves elite strikers.

sherdoggers calling mma fighters elite strikers is just sherdog being sherdog.
Ok, so you agree with me now on fanboys. Cool.

McGregor certainly thinks he can box. JDS wanted to fight Klitchko. And many of them have dabble in kickboxing or boxing before getting into MMA.

when i said nobody considers mma fighters to be elite strikers, i meant nobody with a job considers mma fighters elite strikers. if you're using sherdoggers as your basis of opinion, then idk what to tell you.

the rest of what you wrote reinforces my point.

I'm not using sherdoggers to base my opinion, are you even reading what I write? I am talking about sherdoggers who think that MMA fighters are elite strikers. I clarified by saying I agree with you that MMA fighters are not elite strikers.

I don't even know what you're disagreeing with at this point.

people are different then you brah. the only thing that would ever bring a tear to my eye is if a family member died.
cummins revealed that he made cormier cry years ago, so this isn't the first time. Cormier is a crybaby bully.

At least you have a heart when family is concerned.

He knows something about getting slept

In his own sport no less

You're not arguing with me on that point, I think even the best strikers in MMA get mirked in high level boxing and kickboxing.
Kickboxing doesn't really have elite strikers and I can see some good strikers in MMA maybe competing with kickboxers. Its still quite a small sport. The MuayThai stadiums out in Thailand is another story tho. IMO that's where the best strikers in the world are.

Thailand does indeed have some great strikers but to say kickboxing doesnt really have elite strikers is fucking ridiculous.

thought there were rules about linking to other journalism sites
Not sure if you're trolling at this point or not. Surely you've seen hundreds of posts with links in them by now... but Mods & everyone posts links. It's expected that people reveal their source of information. Someone could literally say anything... but if it comes from a legitimate source then it's more believable.

Conor quick-tapped before he could sleep. At least DC fought his heart out to the end.
cause there's no difference between being finished with strikes & being choked out. none at all.

Everyone needs to get real with that choke thing. Most people tap out when they're caught. It's been standard practice since the UFC started. It doesn't make a person less for doing so if they know they're caught.

To me elite means at the top. The top 3 p4p best kickboxers today are currently Thai's who transitioned from MuayThai to kickboxing and they weren't even the best MuayThai fighters. They were just lucky to be given the opportunity. When I think of elite strikers I think of Panpayak, Superlek, prime Saenchai etc. Every single top kickboxer at the moment IMO are a level or more below those fighters. The difference between fighters in the Thai stadiums to most kickboxers is the same between prime Anderson silva and Nate Diaz.

I mean, its less pleasant to be finished with strikes, but it certainly isn't somehow more complete of a defeat. Being in the position of being choked unconscious then giving up seconds before doesn't make you somehow tougher or give you the advantage.

I'm not objecting to the speed of the tap. I'm objecting to the idea that Conor tapping before he went unconscious somehow means he didn't lose as badly as someone who was actually out.

I hear you, but I've been watching the UFC since it started.... & it's the exception to see someone go out instead of tap... not the rule. It's very rare.

hey... props to Holly for having a near death experience against Meisha... but most people tap. that's 100% an excepted reality of our sport. So I chuckle a bit when people rip on Conor for tapping... because anyone who says that is literally showing their misunderstanding of BJJ.

I'm not trying to be aggressive toward you because you obviously are someone that I'm chuckling a bit at... but it's not even a discussion. When you're caught... & try to get out... but it's so tight you can't move or even breath... you tap.

I know BJJ from personal grappling experience. when you're caught & cannot move a single mm to maneuver... & you can't even gasp for air... there's no sense in going unconscious. That's a wrap. it's over. you tap. Show your girlfriend how to apply a good choke & have her grape vine your legz... & it's really that simple. Even someone you're showing for the first time how to do it... could get in proper position & stop your air from going to your lungs... & you couldn't get out if they held that grape vine & a proper choke hold with all their strength.

Nate had dat sh*t locked in... it waz a wrap. dats eet.

I disagree and feel in no way obligated, as an MMA fan, to cheer for Conor. In fact I hope he gets utterly embarrassed in a laughable manner so that everyone who tuned in for this shitshow feels stupid.

MMA will survive Conor being beaten senseless, and a positive outcome might be that fight fans won't want to pay to see tbis kind of garbage again for a long time. Forcing future MMA title holders to stay put and defend their belts.
How anyone can say mma won't lose credit if he loses badly is beyond me. I mean....HE challenged a boxer not the other way around. Lol. Unless you are saying he is not very smart to make in a challenge within the right ruleset?
