So this lady who was stopped was really nervous when the cops approached and he reassured her that they only kill black people so she has nothing to worry about. LOL this genius forgot that his dash cam was on and he was being recorded and now he's getting fired.

So I know that the BLM movement has morphed into a big clusterfuck but this attitude that the cop is showing is what the original movement was based on. White privilege is innocuous at times but not in the case of police with guns. If I was black I'd be scared shitless of the cops.

probably was trying to make a joke (with all the fuss over this topic) but used poor judgement.

I have noticed police usually end up killing people that don't comply with police instructions. I get bored and watch a lot of combat/police shooting videos. Anyways, people who put their hands in their pockets while they have guns aimed on them in a felony stop, for example. In a felony stop you just have to stop doing anything, keep hands visible and follow instructions. Not much to it.

Do you understand why black guys get nervous when they're stopped by the cops though? Guys with guns and positions of power over the public should not make jokes about killing minorities.

There are a lot of things we would laugh at that would be entirely inappropriate at work, especially when said by a man who carries a gun. It has nothing to do with political correctness at all.

He was joking clearly. We have a cop at our gym who made almost the exact same joke. He had someone's arm trapped behind their back during BJJ and jokingly said "Stop resisting". The guy said "please don't shoot officer". He responded "Relax, you're white". Everyone laughed, including the 4 or 5 black dudes in the room.

It is definitely a little different when they are on the job though, but still, firing seems crazy. Cops actually shoot black people and don't get fired.

It's pretty clear that this wasn't an example of some racist KKK cop from the 50's making a heart-felt statement about killing black people, but rather some dude sarcastically responding to a drunken woman's rant about the police killing everybody.

The problem is that there are going to be a lot of people who look at the headline "We only kill black people" and they're going to run with it, without looking at the context, because it fits their conception that black people are under assault by the racist police. Irresponsible journalism.

It is kind of funny, that he probably would be on paid leave right now if he just shot the driver.

Still though, it's not about PC. It's about professionalism. While he was clearly being sarcastic and making fun of the current climate, it's insensitive as hell and he should know better to not make light of it in his position. Especially not while on duty.

Think of it like if a German teacher walked into his classroom, and was like "Look, I'm German. Don't be afraid of me...unless you're a jew of course. Heh heh, lulz."

I honestly don't get it. I live a law abiding life though. I used to repo cars and been involved in felony stops where I had guns pointed at me. I was never worried about going to jail cause I always had paperwork with me so I never had a problem. Now if I was acting nervous then it makes the cops nervous and if I do something silly then it can cause a bad reaction in a nervous cop. Police is like a wild animal. If you know how to act around them you are safe. Unfortunately lots of minorities act nervous around police because perhaps they feel insecure. Insecurity can arise if you are actually up to no good.

I just take it on a case by case basis. I think media has blown this whole thing out of proportion. Many police shootings I have seen are justified. Very rarely will you see an unjustified shooting. One example of an unjustified shooting would be like South Carolina iirc where the cop said he tried to use a taser against him. Most of the police shootings you can see on youtube are justified. You follow instructions or you will probably get shot. You act figedty and keep your hands out of sight then you will probably get shot.

You should be scared of police anyway. Anyone who follows the law blindly isnt any safer than dealing with violent criminals. The police should be avoided and at all costs you should not cooperate with them. They would thoroughly enjoy destroying your life for frivolous reasons. They are a far larger danger than some gangster retard who can't read.

If I see an officer I sure as hell dont think oh I'm safe. I think I need to leave this area before there are problems. They enjoy ruining people's lives. At least most criminals just want your money. The police want your life.
