Cooking With Beer

Thanks 'cuffs!

I LOVE Trappist beers, I'll be sure to use one.
Really simple but absolutely gorgeous.
Lol wut, No French please, that's 'stoverij', just a tad better than our local 'zuurvlees' which is made often with horsemeat, peperkoek and molasses

You won't get me touching horse meat, and that sounds horrid ! Gingerbread in a stew?!

Yes it does sound disgusting, but its actually really tasty, a lot like stoverij.

Also Konijn in het zuur, is rabbit stew in peperkoek and molasses. aaand there's also Rabbit beer stew.

lulz, typically I don't eat rabbit either. I used to ride horses a lot and had a house rabbit so I just can't bring myself to do it ! I'm not picky or fussy about most things but I'd feel dreadful eating those or escargot.

Here's a really easy beer bread recipe that is tasty. Homemade bread in under an hr. Hard to beat that.

Ingredients
Six pack of beer
3 cups self rising flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon melted butter

Directions

1-preheat oven to 325

2-mix flour and sugar in a large bowl and quickly stir in 1 beer. Put the dough in a greased loaf pan. Wet your fingers and smooth the top of the dough.

3-Bake for 1 hour or until golden brown.

4-Drink the other 5 beers while the bread cooks.

5-Brush the top of the hot bread with the butter.

I've known people to use beer for BBQ's and steaks, thats about it.

I made an Imperial Stout Shredded Chicken Black-Bean Chili that was amazing. Used Sierra Nevada Narwhal for it. Epicness.

Here's one for the fondue lovers:

4 oz shredded Monterrey Jack cheese
6 oz shredded sharp cheddar cheese
4 oz shredded Gruyere cheese (or just good swiss if you can't find Gruyere)
1 Tablespoon of flour

Mix all this together to lightly coat the cheese so it won't stick together.

10 oz of beer. I prefer Shiner Bock, but any good, big beer will work.

Put the beer in the fondue pot and get it warmed up. Add the cheese by the handful until it's all melted. Add 1 TSP of mustard powder and mix well.

Serve with bread, broccoli, cauliflower, apple slices, and whatever else you think goes well with cheese.

I always use a bottle of beer in my chili. I'll also use beer when cooking beef stew or beef or pork roasts in a crock-pot.

Beer battered halibut 'n chips from my favorite local brew pub.
