Again, its just not the CPU/GPU that make the PS5 what it is. Sony/AMD had actually worked together to customise the CPU to fit the needs of the Sony, so much so that the what the research yielded will be shown in the Ryzen 3 chips. Some of those features that will be in the Ryzen 3 chips are now on the Sony AMD CPUs.You might be giving Sony a little too much credit here. The cpu and gpu are coming from AMD. They’re pretty comparable to amd parts that are on the market. You get a much better deal on the PS5 for two reasons; economies of scale and the fact that Sony and MS are willing to eat some losses on the hardware in order to profit on the sales and subscriptions.
It ends up being a great bargain for the consumer. But it’s not because Mark Cerny is a wizard that can pull of something Nvidia can’t figure out
That coupled with how the SSD is integrated, and a bunch more technical jargon you can find in the Mark Cerny talk, has allowed the PS5 to outperform a console thats 3O% more powerful on paper, right out of the gate.
Dunno how you can credit the AMD team with that since the XSX is basically using a similar CPU and GPU from AMD.
