<<Console Wars>> PS5 vs. XSX

There is not much that Sony or Microsoft can do unfortunately. TSMC the semiconductor that manufacturers the wafers for AMD's chips is stretched thin due to production capacity. In addition to this, they've got orders to fulfill for Apple as well so you can see the strain these puts on their fabrication capacity. Add the global pandemic and it's all fucked. Then AMD has to allocate those wafers for the processor chips (CPUs and graphics cards), custom chips for each console etc and its even more fucked. It will stabilise but it will take time. I've ordered a new graphics card and have no idea when the ETA is lol.

I'm probably getting some details wrong but that's the gist of it.

The Apple 5nm and what AMD 7nm gets are different fabs, they're not competing for production.
As much as I hate to support Global Foundries, TSMC needs to lease out their designs to Global Foundries to get production up.
Global Foundries did lease Samsung's 7nm design but I never kept up on it and seen if they ever brought anything to market.

How's everyone feeling about that increased XBL price? Lol. I'm hoping PSN isn't going to follow but I have a feeling it will increase at least a little bit at some point.
They just reverse that decision and now for free to play games you won't need xbox live

That’s a good move but also very strange they even thought that price increase was going to fly lol.

Makes it seem like they intentionally tried to get away with it instead of doing it because they needed the extra money to keep services up or whatever.

Very strange decision making but at least they realized it was a bad move... even if a bit late.

What's wrong with Global Foundries?

It's owned by the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Oh I had no idea. But if it has come to this, then I guess this would be their best option to try and meet demand?

For those that heard Microsoft was raising prices today, well, they changed their minds.

They're just gonna scrap it eventually, and have everyone on Game Pass Ultimate. They tried to squeeze a few extra bucks out of it and got busted, but they wouldn't concede if there wasn't a plan B. I'd wager XBL as a separate service will end within the next year or so. It's pretty pointless to keep it going. I figure they're gonna eventually just convert everyone to a basic and premium Game Pass account, where you pay the extra $5 or whatever for Premium to get the free monthly games. That's practically what it's like now, anyways.

Micro$oft double legging the ref only a few months into the console cycle.

Weird move by MS here. This whole thing came across as very desperate. Doubling the price and then backing off all in 24 hours?
They weren't going to double the price.

It was a clumsy, tone-deaf attempt to herd more Xbox gamers into Game Pass Ultimate. Microsoft recognized this, and reneged. Good for them. Just goes to show how far they've come (and how far they've fallen) that they're this willing to listen.

I do laugh at those who bitch about pricing-- especially fanboys from the other side who used to insist they'd never pay for online playing privileges. When Sony introduces a system that lets me crack out under 2min of click-choring a day to get Playstation Plus for free like I do Game Pass, notify me.

Does Series X not have the sync feature that PS5 has for transferring all your files over from an older console to a new one? It took my like ten minutes to transfer like a dozen games from my PS4 to my ps5 using that feature but it doesn’t seem that Xbox works the same way? I have like 600gb of games on my One S I want to move over to my Series X but I don’t seem to see any way to do this other than redownload them all onto the new machine which will take hours.

You can't move them to an external hdd? I'm pretty sure you can play previous gen games from one as well.

When Game Pass is as affordable as Playstation Plus (under $35 for a year's worth subscription every single year) you let us know too okay? lol
