He would lose in grappling to both but it's easy to avoid the grappling entirely against Tony whereas with Khabib one must have elite tier defensive wrestling or get an early KO.

imo smartest route for Tony is to fight Tony now to sideline Khabib or get him to fight another contender and then move up to WW titlefight or set up a superfight while Khabib continues to fuck his own body up.

How is Mendes a “natural 145er”? He cuts weight to make 145. Being a “natural weight” fighter would imply actually competing at your training camp weight, kinda like Edgar did at 155.

Conor would be a damn fool to actually want to fight Khabib instead of Tony. Khabib gets his hands on him and it's the same old song. I think Romero vs Bisping has a better chance of happening than this fight. Conor will vacate his LW title and Tony will fight Khabib for the real belt.
