Conor never should have left 145 pounds

Of course they care. Any athlete in any sports want to be the greatest. Those who doesn't care knows that they doesn't have it. It as simple as that.

And current Conor could never make 145 you all bunch of morons. For sake Conortards are the worst. Look at is face in the weigh in. Draining to 145 was a supplice for him. Stop acting like 155er are too big for him.

When it comes to money and opportunities.......they don’t care about goat status.

The cut was clearly killing him. No way he'd have stayed champ, but that's more down to him running his body down than the guys he'd have faced.

It's a double edged sword, as a healthy 145 Conor would have destroyed everyone, BUT he was so dominant at 145 in large part due to the advantages from his excessive weight cut.

The problem as well is that he wouldn't have had money fights at 145, he'd probably have drawn pretty well but rematching guys he's already beaten would probably not have drawn the massive bucks and he'd have had to fight longer cutting weight to get that money.

Honestly I think whilst they hurt his "GOAT" status the Diaz fights actually helped his draw, he had both hype and the rep for having great matches which drew even more interest.

Edgar had the next shot and was in his prime at 145. Conor didn't give him a shot or Aldo his rematch.
Ffs, how do you give a rematch after a thurteen secondz execute?!

Fighters don’t care about goat status.

They’re not going to retire broke so obsessed fans can dream about perfect records.
GSP retired early and has a nearly perfect record (2 losses but avenged both). He COULD HAVE made wayyy more $$$ but decided to keep his health and GOAT(-ish) status instead.

Different strokes for different folks.

Whether it's a 13 sec KO or Joanna getting starched by Rose in 1 round, they were the greatest in their division with 5+ title defenses. And even then I didn't say an instant rematch. Edgar just KO'd Mendes, I would give him next. Aldo can get a win before the rematch like Cain before rematching JDS after losing in 1 min. I rather see those two fights than the two Nate fights which really meant nothing.

What makes people think Gaethje beats Conor? There isn’t anything that would support that claim. Conor is the superior striker, both have the same size and cardio. Gaethje got stopped by Eddie and Poirier, Conor KOed both of them. Justin’s best win is Cowboy and Conor finished him even faster. Style wise Justin is perfect for Conor as well.
I wouldn’t favour Tony against Conor either. They way Tony keeps his chin up, Conor would KO him in the first. I believe Top 3 LW right now are Khabib, Tony and Conor. It can become like BW a while ago, when Cruz> TJ, Cody> Cruz, TJ> Cody.
Khabib> Conor, Conor> Tony, Tony> Khabib
I think Conor could potentially beat Gaethje. Some of it might depend on how Gaethje chooses to fight that fight. But Gaethje takes a punch very well, is great at pressuring, and has a decent wrestling game he could implement, plus big power of his own. Would be an interesting fight.
Ferguson I believe is better everywhere. I think he’s the better striker, not Conor. Conor also wouldn’t have a reach advantage. Not only is Tony very durable, but his cardio is far better than Conor’s, his pace would probably overwhelm Conor, plus Tony has the better wrestling and subs. I honestly think Tony is better everywhere than Conor is. Not a doubt in my mind how that fight would turn out. Conor gets beaten up, tired, and choked.

The only way I see Tony losing is if Conor catches him early. We've seen Tony in a few fights eat some shots. Pettis cracked him, Fighter Kevin Lee landed some nice shots. As much as I hate Conor, he has some powerful hands and if Tony eats one of those it could lead to his downfall. But If Tony fights his normal fight, just like you said - his pressure, his cardio, the variety of strikes he throws, Conor will be huffing and puffing early in the second and it'll get ugly fast.

The cut was taking too much of a toll on his body

170 was too much of an immediate leap but going to 155 was the right move.
He was doing without a real nutritionist, similar to Aldo. Once aldo had a pro with him, he hit 135.

Yeah, it’s possible Conor catches him (or anyone) early. But I’m not totally convinced that Conor’s power translates to 155 like it did at 45, and Tony is always very good at recovering when hurt. When Conor was hurt (by Nate) he turned into a panic wrestler and got strangled.

Nate fights were amazing and twas beyond entertaining
Nobody cares bout manlet vs manlet. Conor knows it.

Don’t say nobody cares as if you can speak for the majority. Legacy wise him beating Edgar and aldo again would mean so much more than going 1-1 vs nate. He could even beat Edgar and move up and I wouldn’t have a problem. But going 1-1 vs nate and getting a straight title shot was just ridiculous.

Cross my heart nobody cares...
Although do respect your contribution.
wait...Ridiculous as in epic for himself and the business altogether? Mkay!

I don’t even know why I waste my time giving you paragraph answers when you respond with little substance. You know what I mean by ridiculous. Good for him, Dana, and the ufc. But he fucked up two division for years by holding the FW belt hostage while fighting nate twice and then Alvarez. Let him become simultaneous two division then strip the FW belt. Then held up LW division by fighting Floyd and having a baby (is this not ridiculous?). I care more about the sport and it’s integrity than the business.

If he didnt have that nasty napoleon complex, he probably never would. I think where his age is at( still young), hes in right class which is 155. He can remain a fixture as a top tier/ elite 155er until khabib gets upset or he ascends a weight class.

He doesn't move away from 145 and he probably has kidney failure

He fought at 55 prior to coming to the UFC. His previous fight before joining the UFC was at 55. I think I recall hearing the UFC wanted him to come in at 45. But that cut was ridiculous.
Jake Shields, beats Dan Henderson at 185. Signs with the UFC to fight at 170.

Scratches head.

Conor could have never stayed at 145.

Conor is a guy that likes a challenge and after cleaning out 145 with ease he wanted bigger and better things. He is a true fighter and not a bully. While most fighters moved weight classes because they lost Conor moved because he dominated.
It would go against his nature to not seek a challenge.

For Integrity’s sake.

I know that going up to 170 and 155 made him rich as fuck.

the two Diaz fights and the Alvarez fight got him the Mayweather fight and all that made him a rich, rich man.

but if he stayed at 145 he had a shot of being the GOAT in all of MMA. Jose Aldo rematch I think he would have won. Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway rematches I say he wins. Mendes rematch he wins. Anyone other scraps at 145 pounds I say he is favored. He would have been the 145 pound Anderson Silva, and maybe still gotten the Mayweather fight. With the judges and the ref on his side, i bet he could have gotten 4-5 title defences.

with his height, size advantage, KO power. I think staying and defending at 145 pounds would have been best for his long term legacy.
He looks like a Zombie at 145 he kills himself to make that weight so 155 is his home

I don’t understand what the confusion is. Nobody was talking about Conor’s weight cuts early in his ufc career. Conor had 9 FW and 5 LW fights if I counted right before coming in. He mostly fought at FW and moved up to get the second belt right before joining. Shields has a total of 4 MW fights in his career that one is obvious. He was really undersized when he beat hendo who fought HWs.
