Conor never should have left 145 pounds

He can refill his weigh in skelator frame with IVs anymore. He was killing himself to get to 45. He looked more drained than ive seen any fighter for a cut.

The dude cuts some to make 170. 145lbs was too much. His move to LW was good, but I just wish he'd actually put in work there. He still only had two fights at LW in the UFC and it's a real shame because that's the best weight class for him. There's so many good match ups for him at LW if he'd just fight more....

Fighters don’t care about goat status.

They’re not going to retire broke so obsessed fans can dream about perfect records.

Of course they care. Any athlete in any sports want to be the greatest. Those who doesn't care knows that they doesn't have it. It as simple as that.

And current Conor could never make 145 you all bunch of morons. For sake Conortards are the worst. Look at is face in the weigh in. Draining to 145 was a supplice for him. Stop acting like 155er are too big for him.

No, they should have made the 150Ib class for when things got difficult at 145Ib and then when he got the full on coke habit they should have got him the 165Ib class or even a special belt like the BMF belt, maybe something like the BCH belt, he would have to fight Jones for that but we all know he beats Jones by head clean off with that mighty left.........

He couldn’t make the weight without IV

If they had a 150 weight class he could probably make it, he made 153 for Mayweather & looked fine.

<{anton}>

Are you sure? Then why do the idiot fanboys make goat threads like they're going to get laid if they do?<Gordonhat>

I like how people think it's a given that he would've just ran through Aldo a second time like the first fight showed us all we need to know..

Good thing we saw JDS-Cain/Randleman-CroCop/Rua-Machida/Liddell-Couture and about 30 other fights again.

Conor has a claim as one of the best fighters ever in three separate weight classes. That's huge for legacy.
this is nr1 bullshit.

Conor has exactly 1 win at lw in the ufc. a great win if you ask me but this doesnt mean he is a lw great.
Who did he beat at WW to be considerd a WW great exactly? he is 1-1 against a blown up lw ( nate ) and he beat Cerrone who is a lw himself and is on a 3 fight losing streak.

Conor certainly has the potentional to build a great legacy at lw i wont deny that but he has done nothing to be considerd a lightweight great at this point in time.

I think he still can make 145 if he really wants it. I mean look at the 145 division, they have many guys who are big like Mcgregor, so why can't he make 145 again?

They aren’t as muscular (Zabit for example). Hard to cut muscle. The only way is not training

What honestly makes you think that?

Just makes sense in your head, er something?

Question coming from a non-Conor fan.

For Integrity’s sake.

I know that going up to 170 and 155 made him rich as fuck.

the two Diaz fights and the Alvarez fight got him the Mayweather fight and all that made him a rich, rich man.

but if he stayed at 145 he had a shot of being the GOAT in all of MMA. Jose Aldo rematch I think he would have won. Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway rematches I say he wins. Mendes rematch he wins. Anyone other scraps at 145 pounds I say he is favored. He would have been the 145 pound Anderson Silva, and maybe still gotten the Mayweather fight. With the judges and the ref on his side, i bet he could have gotten 4-5 title defences.

with his height, size advantage, KO power. I think staying and defending at 145 pounds would have been best for his long term legacy.

Very small minded argument. One objective look at his weight cuts and you'd see how much it killed him. Big weight cutters usually all face the same ominous dilemma.
Conor was young when he came into the UFC at 145lbs. It was obvious he was getting thicker, and it was only a matter of time till he moved up.

Plus, people would be mad anyway saying Conor only fights manlets. Well, they'd say that unless he fought 6 footers in LHW, so touche.

The cut was clearly killing him. No way he'd have stayed champ, but that's more down to him running his body down than the guys he'd have faced.

It's a double edged sword, as a healthy 145 Conor would have destroyed everyone, BUT he was so dominant at 145 in large part due to the advantages from his excessive weight cut.

Look at the top 15 of the 145 divison. The only guys that are looking smaller than Mcgregor are Aldo(if you still count him as a 145),Edgar, Volk and Emett. The rest of them are big like Mcgregor and sometimes even bigger and taller than him. Mcgregors 'walk around' weight has to get smaller of course to make the weight because I think his 'walk around' weight from today and compared to 5 years ago are different

Disagree, he would have destroyed his body making 145. Much worse without IV. He is a very healthy lw and that’s where he always belonged to begin with.

Bouncing between 155 and 170 is a mistake, though. He will get butchered into retirement playing that game.
