Media "Conor needs to fight Gaethje or Islam Makhachev next"

nobody gives a shit about islam, he hasn't beat anyone notable, is barely ranked and barely anyone except russians and hardcores know who he is.

They had bad blood before UFC 229 but still fought.

Khabib has said he's not denying a rematch out of bad blood he just wants him to earn it first. Ali implied he'd earn it with a win over Gaethje or Islam, and he's likely speaking for Khabib.

It's a personal principle for Khabib because he remembers being denied a titleshot that he felt he deserved at UFC 205, so he doesnt want to pull an Alvarez by doing the same in fighting non-deserving contenders.

I think Conman needs to beat two highly ranked fighters before a title shot or facing Khabib.
One hard fight isn't enough.

Khabib wouldn't object to a Conor rematch if Conor were to beat Islam (or Gaethje).

No one is forcing Conor to fight Islam lol, Ali is just saying that's one pathway for Conor.

Why tf would Conor fight Islam? Terrible matchup stylistically against A pretty much unknown fighter outside of hardcore fight fans that is ranked outside the top 10.

Nothing to gain and everything to lose tbh

Depends how bad Conor wants a TS.

Unless Tony wins in April, Conor must fight Gaethje or Makhachev or say bye bye to his TS dream.

Its already been established that Conor's opponents dont get paydays for non-title fights.

Ali and Khabib dont care that UFC ranked Cowboy and others above Makhachev, they know Islam's skill level.

A win over Islam or Justin would earn Conor the rightful contender status in Team Khabib's view.
It doesn't matter how much more Conor makes in the fight, what Cowboy made is still just about as much as any of Ali's fighters will make in a non-title fight. It also doesn't matter what he and Khabib think about Islam's skill level. The guy is untested. Gillespie was ranked and highly-touted as a prospect, and the dude got slept in the first round during his first real challenge against a ranked opponent. Maycee Barber beat up a few cans, became the girl who was going to unseat Shevchenko, and Modafferi beat her to a bloody pulp. I get that you and Ali are all high on Islam, but he's going to have to do more than get a decision win over Ramos for the rest of us to be convinced. The idea of a fight with Conor is laughable. Cowboy didn't just get the fight because of his ranking, which he still got from beating ranked opponents. He also got it because he's a ufc legend who has a huge fan base built up from years of fighting the best guys. His resume and Islam's aren't comparable, which is why Ali pushing a fight between him and Conor as a serious idea is an insult to everyone's intelligence. There's zero chance he would suggest this if Islam wasn't his client, so it's not like him voicing his opinion on who Conor does or doesn't need to fight holds any merit whatsoever. No other manager comes out spewing this bullshit, which is why everyone hates the guy so much.

Like I said several times, no one is forcing Conor to fight Islam LOL. Ali is telling Conor one of his narrow paths to a TS against Khabib. He can take it or leave it.

How much closer to a TS did the Cerrone fight get him again, despite him being #5, a "legend" etc?

Why do people act like Justin isnt tailor made for a Conor highlight real KO? He got koed by Eddie and Dustin in the standup. Conor destroyed both and made it look easy. Styles make fights yes but Justin is purely standup despite his history as a collegiate wrestler. Ali wants Conor to fight another one of the fighters he manages so he can get double the $$
I don’t totally disagree with you but I will say he looked a lot more refined and measured vs Vick and cerrone

Ali is a fucking cancer that when actually held to account for the idiotic bullshit he spouts was made to look like a shady hypocritical pos. to talk about his comments about matchmaking like he has any real power or legitimacy is laughable.
He just trying to line his own pockets and puff up his laughable ego, as per usual

If you were talking about Dana white saying these comments then you may have a point but we are just talking about some garbage some shaddy manager is wafting.

Conor wants to fight Diego

The UFC will sell the fight as (2) future Hall of Fame legends

Plus Diego currently has a better win streak than Cowboy did before the McGregor fight

It will likely give Conor another WW knockout win

Probably headlines UFC 251
They can even find some old footage of them trading barbs to hype it up as an old grudge.

Funny that khabib fans buy into this whole “khabib will fight whoever he wants to next.”

delusional fanboys. Conor’s the biggest star the sports ever seen. If Dana wants to make that fight, that fight WILL happen, n there ain’t shit khabib can do about it. Or Dana will strip his ass.

If you believe this you're an idiot.

He's the Manager of the champ.

Dana can not give Conor a TS unless Dana was the beltholder lol

Dana can't force anyone to sign a contract. Managers generally speak for fighters, Ali is saying unless Conor fights Islam or Gaethje he will need to win more fights in order for Khabib to be willing to sign a fight with him.

He's basically giving him options for a shorter path to a rematch and you're bitching about it.

Ali Abdelaziz said so, timestamped:

.
Who should Conor fight next then, Justin or Islam?

Yes Conor should fight Gaethje.. But #14 ranked/never fought a top 10 Islam is a absolute joke. Sorry but your Fighter Crush isn’t proven.

Listing Islam was a red herring, but everybody was suggesting Gaethje before Cerrone was announced. Considering his time away, coming off of a loss, and only being 1-1 in the division should have made it mandatory to at least fight two top-10 fighters to earn a title shot.

Yea because ali's totally the one who decides who gets title shots. My whole point is that ali knows the amount of money and notoriety involved in a Conor fight, so suggesting that Conor needs to fight one of his fighters in order to earn the right to fight another one is obviously just him looking for a big check. If Conor didn't have the pull he has, ali wouldn't give af. Suggesting a fight with Islam only gives him away, seeing that a Gaethje fight is actually plausible. And while Cowboy's loss did nothing for him title shot wise, all I'm saying is that he got the big ppv fight with Conor because he's a big name. Ali doesn't control shit, and if you think Dana's going to let him and Khabib dictate the terms of a Conor rematch should Khabib get by Ferguson, then you don't know Dana very well. He'll strip Khabib in a second. While I agree Conor gets bullshit advantages, it's the name of the game. What Ali is suggesting won't happen. There's too much money involved in having Conor in the title picture, and a fight with Gaethje is a risk to that.
