Conor McGregor the modern day Bruce Lee

How dare you disrespect Bruce Lee!?!?!?!

I disagree. Bruce Lee was more enigmatic. Conor is an excellent cocktail of skill, belief and madness, but isn't the philosopher Bruce was. Well, not yet.

Hate him or love him the man has charisma like no other just like Bruce did and the way he is obsessed with his craft is no mistake as to why he is doing what he is doing right now this isnt just momentum this is a lifestyle.

I completely agree, except that Bruce gets a lot more credit for being the first. Also all his fanboys are starting to make a lot of people hate him (including myself). I find him extremely entertaining and an excellent mixed martial artist, I'm just getting fed up with his fans for the most part. I'm not even kidding but I truly think that 50% of them believe he really could win every belt, lol.
P.S. He's running from Frankie

Dont remember Bruce Lee actually being able to fight.

The Bruce Lee phenomenon is so hyped because of 1 reason: he died. If he were still alive, his style would have been debunked just like Chuck Norris, Jet Li and other TMA movie stars that sold their goods as being the best ever. Bruce Lee would have gotten wrecked by every UFC fighter in the modern era. He had the X factor but the notion that he could walk in and compete with elite MMA fighters is absurd, just like the notion that DADA 5000 could compete at the elite levels of MMA; all hype.

Bruce Lee was a product of his time and his drive to bring Eastern culture to the West. He was absolutely revolutionary for his time. If you think he was important because he died then you are a total waste of time.

He wouldn't have been an MMA fighter in the modern MMA age. Unless it was to prove that what his art taught was effective. Basically, Royce or Rickson Gracie are the modern Bruce Lee. They aren't really fighters, they are much more than that. They are teachers and they are symbols.

Conor is a very 'talented' and ambitious child compared to any of them.

i never said Bruce would come in to the UFC and walk over people but his attitude would be above most

I believe he is quite the philosopher already but people dont see it

An actor?

Everyone once in awhile, you still get fools like you who say "he was just an actor" Seemingly forgetting the man was a martial artist his entire life, and just happened to turn to acting. He is the most influential martial artist who has ever lived. by far. he developed his own fighting style. he is the father of all mma.

But gotta love fools like you. Do some research on him sometime.

If that's the case maybe TS is right don't ever remember Bruce Lee fighting off his back...

Can't believe I'm gonna say this.....difference is, one of them is a real bad ass.

Ronda is the modern day Helen of Troy. Schaub and Browne went to war over her.

Oh cool. Can you point me to some of his fights?

I can see modest parallels, in that Conor is I guess, you know he's doing the MovNat thing, has integrated western boxing with a bit of karate. However, Bruce Lee was a martial arts master, studied various forms of martial arts / hand-to-hand combat, and integrated what he thought was most valuable and practically fundamental into a new style of martial arts, and was more of a teacher and experimenter.

So, I'd consider Conor more of a product of Bruce Lee inspiration, than a modern-day version of him. Bruce Lee is the theory, and Conor is the practice. I'd say most MMA fighters are a product of Bruce Lee in a way, though. But even as good as Conor is, and other MMA fighters, MMA still has a long way to go before the athletic/talent ceiling is even in sight. People are going to probably look back 30 years from now and say "Who the f**k armbars anymore? Any serious fighter has his elbows surgically dislocated to prevent that."

Does that sound crazy? There are ultramarathon runners who have their toenails surgically removed so they don't have to pull them off during a run. If MMA continues to grow over the next 30+ years, we are going to likely see some awesome, but equally weird shit.

martial artists that never competed in combat sports should still be respected as the great philosophers/scientists that they are.

There's theory and there's applied theory and in every area of life people are respected for being pioneers in both theory and applied theory.

Theory is science and philosophy- that's what Bruce Lee contributed to martial arts.

He wasn't the first man to advocate the importance of fitness in combat and an open mind in combining many different techniques in one fluid style but he added specific ideas to those general concepts that should be appreciated and respected.

Martial Arts theory is the science to the engineering discipline that is MMA.

It is what political philosophy is to politics.

Conor McGregor is the Donald Trump to Bruce Lee's Thomas Hobbes.

He's not even a modern day Brenda Lee.

Bruce Lee... WTF ?

What a joke. This is the main reason people cant stand conor....his stupid ass fans who seem to feed his ego.

Why is every asshole in sports called charismatic now? Connor is not charismatic. Money, or not, he is a boorish peasant. He just appeals to lowest common denominator trash. They are not exactly difficult to impress.
