Conor McGregor the modern day Bruce Lee

Well, maybe he could, who knows. To my knowledge he didn't actually fight though.

ur right he wasn't a pro MMA fighter as there was no such thing in the 60s. And of course movies PAID WAY better than anything else he could of done. Also he wanted the world to see his arts. There weren't much of movie special effects back then, all that speed, agility and moves were realistically displayed.

Bruce was a pioneer, true martial artist and philosopher b4 became international movie star (who only did martial arts film btw). He also taught and befriended whites, blacks, Hispanics, and other Asians. Like him or not (which is one's own preference), but he should be at least respected as a dedicated martial artists who was ahead of his time.

You mean like the way he's ripping off Ali & Floyd with his shtick? What does that have to do with Bruce Lee? Get your head out of his ass, you're suffocating.
LOL no chill just breath bro

Bruce Lee could and did fight, he was bullied as a youth because he was half white, he became an excellent street fighter. The reason he went to America was because he beat up the son of a feared triad leader.

His fighting style is actually molded on the same principles as MMA, he took the best techniques he learned and incorporated them but was always looking to improve. He actually said year after year the style would look completely different as it evolved.

He studied with Judo Gene Lebel, Muhammad Ali and many other predominant martial artists. If you watch his movies you will see he uses many different styles of fighting including using submissions.

You saying Bruce Lee couldn't compete against a high level MMA fighter is like saying cars from the 60's are shit because they dont have power steering, air bags or gps.

Think about the evolution of MMA, nobody from the first UFC fights and early Japanese promotions would be able to compete with the high level guys today and without those early days showing us what worked and what didn't we wouldn't have modern MMA, this was in the 90s, and Bruce Lee was devloping this concept 30 years before that.

He was a true martial arts pioneer and to discredit him as a "movie star who is only famous because he died" is simply wrong. Next time you decide to chime in on a subject it helps if you have at least a basic understanding of it.
Well said

Embarrassing thread and no surprise it's from someone with a Conor avatar. Yet again, Conor fanboys proven to be the most delusional fanboys in MMA.

Bruce is mostly known for his movies among casual fans, but the man was a civil rights activist as well, refusing to deny anyone who wanted to learn his art even when asked by other eastern martial artists to not teach the white man.

He wasn't *just* a movie star. Teacher, philosopher, philanthropist, revolutionary fitness practices, and martial artist.

The guy is deserving of every ounce of praise he gets.

Dont remember Bruce Lee actually being able to fight.

The Bruce Lee phenomenon is so hyped because of 1 reason: he died. If he were still alive, his style would have been debunked just like Chuck Norris, Jet Li and other TMA movie stars that sold their goods as being the best ever. Bruce Lee would have gotten wrecked by every UFC fighter in the modern era. He had the X factor but the notion that he could walk in and compete with elite MMA fighters is absurd, just like the notion that DADA 5000 could compete at the elite levels of MMA; all hype.

Chuck Norris is an 8th degree black belt in TKD and has a black belt in BJJ so I dunno what the fuck you're talking about "debunked".

Jet Li studied a half dozen or so forms of Wushu and other martial arts from the age of 6 or so and was winning tournaments at age 8. Guarantee you he could beat your ass.
