Conor McGregor speaking Irish?

He speaks english that doesn't come through an interpreter which is just fine with me...

Not dead at all, there are Irish schools (that use only Irish for everything)
But apparently Irish people are ashamed of their own language, sad

Yes, there are schools that are total immersion. But what you failed to point out is, that they are only 10% , max of the total number of schools available to Irish students. So the other 90% are learning Irish from a teacher that can barely speak it themselves, and only doing it once a day for an hour.. If you are so serious about making it big in Ireland then people need a reason to speak it. Till that happens, it will continue to fade. It has nothing to do with being ashamed of it, it has everything to do with not ever needing it..

So TS has gone from knowing nothing about the language to knowing the emotions of the entire population, I wish I was a quick an analyst as you.

I would hardly call what he speaks "English"

Fook dis ting tok boom yeh?

Loads of countries have adopted other languages.

Not an issue at all.

Reason ,what is better reason than being Irish,You see Italian or Polish .....etc would never gave up their own language

Irish is a required subject from primary to leaving cert, everyone knows a bit at least. Plus he went to a Gaelscoil during secondary, so all classes were in Irish.

Those countries also study other languages, but again the problem is with Irish. They have no reason to learn it. Why waste time on it when you can be learning more practical things.. Which in todays age, practical is better then sentimental.

I want to learn it, but why should I bother if I have no one to speak it with? Literally, not one single person in my state speaks it, and 98% of Ireland cant either.

I am honestly tempted to learn Welsh, despite being of Irish ancestor as I have a friend who is fluent in it.

I know it is required in school, but the things I have read say that the schools do a shitty job of teaching it.. Which is kinda proven given that you have kids studying it for Years, and yet they are not fluent in it? From beginning to final graduation they study it, yet are not fluent.. That is a systemic problem..

There's an interview out there where he's speaking Irish to a TG4 reporter. He says in Irish that he plans on kicking Aldo in the head. Also he says he's a bit rusty in it since he left school.
