It's really not too much news, but to those who are not aware. Conor really believes in this book and that part of it has contributed to his success. The idea behind it is the Law of Attraction

The law of attraction is the name given to the maxim "like attracts like" which in New Thought philosophy is used to sum up the idea that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts a person brings positive or negative experiences into their life.

Some proof

Erin McGregor had received a copy of the book from a friend, and she liked the things she read. She liked how the book told her that she could take control of her life. As a fitness model and bodybuilder, she was no stranger to discipline. She’d crafted hard, rugged muscles through years of self-control and hard work.

But the book told her she could take things to another level.

She enthusiastically told Conor about the book. Written by RhondaByrne and released in 2006, The Secret is based on the law of attraction. It tells the reader that the power of positive thinking can change their life and bring about anything they desire: money, wealth, happiness.

At first, Conor thought his sister was being ridiculous. The law of attraction? It sounded like a bunch of nonsense.

But one day, a year or so after Erin first told him about the book, Conorhad a bad day. He remembered the book and how Erin would go on about it and decided he'd give it a look, even if it felt a little ridiculous.

He realized that the things he focused his thoughts on, whether bad or good, usually came true. And so Conor and Dee started practicing it, figuring there was no harm in at least focusing their thoughts on the positive.

They started concentrating on the things they wanted. At first, they focused on small things. They would drive to the local shopping center and focus on securing the parking spot closest to the door.

"We would be driving to the shop and visualizing the exact car park space," he says. "And then we’d be able to get it every time."

They kept visualizing small things, seeing the law of attraction play out in front of their eyes. Eventually, the small things turned to big things: dreams of wealth, success and fighting championships.

Today, Erin says she believes Conor always had the ability to control his life with positive thinking, even as a child. She believes it was always buried inside him. But his father Tony says there was nothing remarkable about him, nothing that would lead you to believe he would eventually become what he is today.

So what are your thoughts on this? I feel that there is some legitimacy that putting something out in the open provides an incentive to strive towards that, and the positive motivation can be a huge pull.

However, it seems Conor takes it more as a mystical force where visualization can manifest into reality.

Good for him, but I personally believe the book negates the value of hard work. Most people read the thing and believe that if they wish to be successful and think positively, that it'll just fall into their lap.

TS. You've made 4 conor threads in under 30 minutes. Get off the dudes nuts for a second.

Don't care if Yoel believes in Gay Jesus; don't care if Conor believes in this metaphysical stuff either. Praying, meditating, thinking something into existence, whatever floats their boat... not sure how their personal beliefs about stuff like this are important in any way.

I believe I can fly. I believe I can touch the sky. Think about it every night and day..... If I can see it, then I can do it. If I just believe it, theres nothing to it.

So Conor is a believer in new age philosophy? Actually it's old school religious chunks from different beliefs systems repackaged for a newer generation, but good for him.

Conor has demonstrated some pretty fantastic things. Many of his visualizations have come true, and pretty accurately. He said he would take out Dustin Poirier, who was never stopped, in 1 round. Same with Chad. Said the same about Aldo, who also had never been stopped (probably the hardest to believe). It makes some of his accomplishments pretty interesting, and you wonder what he means when he says some of these things about "visualizations". Of course, he has gotten some things wrong and its not like he's predicting things that are rare in the fight game, but it seems overall that his views have brought a lot of benefit to him.

If there is credit to it, then it can be an asset to a fighter in their mental approach to training/development.

If you want to believe in what Conor believes in, have at it. No need to try and convince me.

Isn't Faber a big Law of Attraction guy too? No wonder him and Conor get along so well

Never heard about the book. I'll read it, seems it works lol

If only the Jews had simply wished the holocaust away....

I have a few really successful businessmen friends who all have this book. I don't think it negates hard work at all. I think it's more about believing that the hard work is worth it because you are convinced you will be successful. They grinded all the way to the top and are living the dream now.

He seems like the highly impressionable type to live his life by someone else's personal philosophy.
There isn't one aspect of the guy's personality that smacks of originality.

Believing something is possible is the biggest part to accomplishing it. If you look at the lyrics of the song chad mendes came out to for his fight with conor well that song is about not selling out for something. Conor sold out to the game. He says its all he thinks about day and night. Nothing else matters to him. He is lucky enough to have a girlfriend and family around him that is on board. Perhaps his belief in his dream and dedication convinced them of it. Life is give and take. The more you give the more you take. If you give everything you have to something and not give a damn what no one says or what stands in your way then you will get it. Conor and his coach they came from nothing. No MMA background. No one on his side. An entire nation and soon after world said he was crazy. Irish MMA get out of town. Its a laughing stock. Conor believed in it and look at what it has become. This is why I am a fan. His path to UFC champion really proves that anything is possible if you believe in yourself and you give it your all then any goal is attainable. The law of attraction can be anything you want it to be. The law of attraction didnt make him its about what was already inside of him. A person without drive and determination may look at it and think simply forcing thoughts and telling yourself something will fall into your lap is possible. A person with drive will look at it and see a that self belief and positive thinking will allow you to achieve your dreams if you sell out to the goal.

that book is bullshit and it's tailor made to make money off losers and people who wish for things instead of going out and earning them

everyone that has had "success" with the law of attraction or whatever has good work ethic and has put a ton of work in like connor

It's important because they believe it is, and belief is more powerful than tangible proof.

Lmao ive read it. Its total bullshit. People with cancer who believed they would be cured and suddenly were cured.. Yeah sure.

If you think it, it would come true. Yeah sure.
