Conor having bad cardio is a myth

Lol imagine still simping for Conor McGregor in 2022.

I agree, he even seemed to catch a second wind against Nate in the 4th I think, and looked more fresh.

I think Conor just crumbles when he's getting beaten up. Some guys, like Dustin, almost get stronger when you hurt them, he spoke about this, that he likes the chaos and the battle of wills, but Conor to me always seemed like the opposite, a guy who likes to be in control and have everything take place on his terms, otherwise he breaks.

I think Till is the same. They're confident at their pace, in their range, but when you start to implement your own game, they don't want to be there anymore.
Many fighters are like this, they can only be the hammer and they can't handle being the nail.

His cardio isn't terrible, it just isn't high/elite level. It isn't championship level. He will never fight harder in the championship rounds than he does in the early rounds. They are called championship rounds for a reason. It's where champions shine. Conor has a hard time getting to championship rounds due to his cardio/conditioning. Conor in his most recent fights seems to only have 2 round cardio/conditioning before he's totally gassed.

He’s only gassed in ONE fight and that was his first fight moving up 2 weight classes. It’s easily excusable that he gassed in the first Nate fight, he spent almost 2 rounds butchering Nate and trying to finish him. I think he really just wasn’t prepared to go 5 rounds against a cardio machine and thought he would get rid of Nate early, which wasn’t happening so he mentally broke which led to him gassing.

Then he went 5 grueling rounds with Nate and won the rematch. So
what other fight did he gas? The Khabib fight he was getting grappled for 4 rounds which would happen to any one. The Dustin fight he lost mobility in his leg which led to the KO. He even went 10 rounds with Floyd while having a heavy output throughout the fight.

Just watch the Mendes and Nate 2 fights. Conor having horrible cardio is a myth

His issue is more a combination of non-elite cardio and a willingness to quit

How come he gassed in every 2nd round he has been in the last 6 years

I don't think it's not having the heart.

I think it's having the intelligence to accept that he's exausted and he's not gonna win and any additional damage taken is just a gift to his CTE.

That's why he gave his back to Nate on the first fight.

I don't think he surrended against Khabib. I think Khabib was toying with him and he decided when and how end the fight.

In fighting, that's the definition of being a quitter.

Truly great fighters--even though tired, beaten, and losing losing--dig deeper than seemingly possible ... and manage to pull-out the victory through sheer determination and willpower.

Conor isn't even close to that.

Lol two weight classes he just didn’t cut, should help cardio if anything.

he has poor cardio but that’s because he throws hard. Like the opposite of bisoing

Correct, Conor just gets slept/tapped when he is inefficient with utilization of his energy and goes for a finish...

it’s the PC way of saying he sometimes prematurely blows his wad before his dance partner is ready... then gets punished for his mistake...

Let’s face it McGregor has a history of becoming inexplicably excited like a 15 year old school boy in coed gym class... often in the wrong circumstances

I’m guessing Dee has had many a night where Conor dozen pumped clumped her...LoL.

“I’m tired me love, Me romise ya I be better efficient with me McGregor tomorrow night love, snoorrring”

Rebounding when Nate slowed down in the rematch was a good sign but he still hit the wall hard in that fight and was in deep trouble. Even after Nate had emptied the gas tank trying to finish, Conor resorted to a lot of circling out and resetting. He also didn’t have nearly the same pop on his shots anymore, ditto for the Khabib fight. His fastball was slower in round two of the Poirier rematch too.

The bottom line, to me, is that Conor’s ability to finish fights/dictate fights with his power is pretty well lost by round three at the latest. His ability to survive and compete will remain — unless and until his opponent can muster the energy to mount a sustained offensive and put him away. Khabib did it in the 4th, Nate did it in the 2nd once and almost did it again (and IMHO likely would have in the later rounds if he was in better shape for that fight), Poirier did it in the 2nd (and IMHO would have again had Conor’s leg held up).

Lol

“sorry lass, I wasn’t efficient with me energy”

I’m gonna use that.

Go back and watch the post fight conference from when Diaz rocked and strangled Conor, he literally said it a few times... once he swallowed the chump lump and got the courage to talk again in the presence of Nate Diaz...

Tried to time mark, if it didn’t work start watching @9:30

Oh I know, lol, it was hilarious. Conor wasn’t necessarily wrong but it was hilarious.

Conor only showed bad cardio at 170 but he gassed in the floyd fight at 154 which was Floyd's gameplan to take advantage of.

Plus he stopped spinning kicks after that Diaz loss so he knew his cardio was meh at 155

"Heavy output" - after he realized he couldn't tag Mayweather with anything substantial, he was throwing patty-cake punches, from about round 3 onward, that wouldn't damage a flea, just to try and touch him. Throwing arm punches that barely even involve the arms doesn't exactly drain the gas tank. Mayweather could have easily ended the fight earlier than he did, but he clearly carried him for several rounds for the sake of the event. And Conor was completely gassed by the end of it, Mayweather wasn't.

He didn't "move up two weight classes" to fight Nate Diaz. Diaz was the last minute replacement, who had no training camp for the fight, not Conor.

Conor didn't have to cut down for that fight, which was practically killing him to make featherweight, so that's a positive, not a negative. And he never cut to featherweight ever, again. That's not going to make you gas. That's going to give you more in the gas tank.

In the rematch, he easily won the first two rounds, and then hung on for dear life for the rest of the fight. That's not exactly a testament to a great gas tank. Neither is being dominated by Khabib.

If you want to argue that, due to a low sample size, it's not proven, great. But the sample we have is him not looking good after about a round and a half. If you want to argue that it's a myth, then we need to see him finish strong in a late-round war, which has never happened for him, and, now that he's pretty much done fighting, won't ever happen.
