Conor/edgar is toss up fight

I don't disagree.. but at the end of the day, Conor did something that many good fighters failed to accomplished, he stopped Aldo... in the case of Jose, his head-games worked.

But no one is going to crawl inside Nate Diaz's head.. and if they did, I doubt they ever come out... when it comes to Frankie, I don't think there is much chance that McGregor is going to rattle him...

I found it funny in one thread a poster mentioned there's not really much going up there in the first place to mentally rattle the Diaz brothers and Robbie Lawlor. Although funny, it's not true. These guys are veterans at (and know how to handle) head games already where as Aldo was always a quiet dude and his opponents mostly respected (maybe due to fear as well) him as with him to them. He never experienced a fearless, trash talker before and that really got to him and I believed cost him the fight too.

After studying Conor's last fight and having experience with the psych warfare already, Jose should be prime for a more competitive next bout as we all would agree with.

It will be interesting to see how this fight plays out. After the Mendes & Diaz fights, I think it is safe to say that certain skill sets are going to be more effective against Conor. But let us not forget that he beat Jose Aldo, one of the most dominant fighters in the history of the sport, and he did it in record time. At 145, no one can under-estimate McGregor. And with the reality check Conor just got with moving up in weight, I think his focus on the featherweight division will be better than ever. So yeah, I got this as a toss-up fight... Edgar is an all-time great, and his wrestling/stand-up combo is a lot more dangerous than Mendes.

The thing about the Aldo fight is that it didn't really show us anything about Conor. We all knew he had KO power before that. There wasn't really a fight. Aldo got caught quickly, so nothing was showcased.

as I said before.. it is not like I disagree, other than it was indeed a fight.. but Conor KO'ed Aldo.. something no one else has been capable of doing... Conor's head games worked on Aldo... Jose fought angry.. and that created the opportunity... Conor capitalized... I think Aldo will be a far more dangerous opponent in the rematch... but no one can take the win away from McGregor.

As far as Frankie goes, personally my money is one Edgar, but it is still a toss-up of a fight... Frankie is so well rounded, so conditioned and so experienced... but Conor is friggin dangerous at 145... he is much bigger.. and he hits like a hammer... I am looking forward to this one...

I understand your point, but these types of things happen in MMA. I mean, Matt Serra KO'd GSP. No one in their right mind would argue that Serra was some godlike fighter, but he wrecked a guy who is considered one of the all time greats.

From what was said after that fight, it seems that Georges was not mentally prepared to fight that night and Serra capitalized. The same could be said for Aldo...he was not mentally prepared. The difference is that GSP mind fucked himself. Conor put the psych to Aldo hard and then capitalized. So credit to Conor for that. Not very sporting, but obviously effective. But Conor's successful mind games also don't prove that he's far and away the better fighter, either.

I digress, though, because I do think Conor is very good. I just don't think he's truly proven greatness yet. I think Edgar will probably put the screws to him, because Frankie will keep coming after Conor throws everything he has.

Conor's got zero experience of 25 minute fights and appears to have serious problems with pacing. I've no idea why you think this fight will end with a decision.

Edgar has been blasted in the first before, that's what Conor specializes in. I think it's pretty safe to say he's going to attempt to do what Gray Maynard couldn't. He's the bigger man and has better punches than Maynard, it's quite possible he could pull it off.

If it works his career is sort of back on track, if it doesn't; he'll be entering the second round against a guy with better grappling, inhuman recovery and one of the best 5 round work-rates in the sport. That's not a situation that leads to a decision.

5 round Frankie will have the Answer. And like with Diaz, I don't think the minds games will work.

conor does well against anyone his body specs or smaller. i give it to conor 60%/40%

Man, I remember about six months ago Holm has little chance against Rousey....yes, Conor has a great chance against Frankie. He's much bigger with a serious reach advantage, and fight ending power. And before anyone says "but, but Frankie can't be KO'd", Conor slept Aldo who has never been stopped by strikes.

Frankie has a great chance to grab the FW belt, I think if he has his way with Conor on the ground he will sub Conor by halfway through the fourth. But I don't think that is any sort of foregone conclusion. If Conor is well conditioned and prepared for a five round fight I think he can win.

Frankie = Rashad

Conor = chuck (without the wrestling)

Frankie has been on a run of terror lately but i favor conor in the first 3 rounds, if edgar can take his shots i see conor getting a 48-47 split. Your thoughts?

you think conner will survive with frankie or keep up with frankie for 25 minutes, and maybe even winning?

im not sure where to go from here.... you really believe that conner coudl last 25 minutes?

frankie work rate will give conner a heart attack--he gasses on the stool between rounds 1 and 2.

conner has zero ground game. frankie will take him down at will and with ease.

conner's chin couldnt stand up to volume diaz, frankie will surely crack it in 25 minutes.

sorry pal, i do not see any way that this fight goes to judges and conner takes it.

lets not overstate one fight.

serra koed gsp.

Only way Conor beats Frankie is by knockout. He's not well-rounded enough to win a decision or sub Frankie. Frankie smash him, Conor has a punchers chance

If by 'toss up' you mean Conor getting tossed up in the air on his way to another loss, then yes, yes it is a toss up.

I think Edgar is going to embarrass Conor.

When the dust settles I think Conor's run to the FW belt will be seen as the luckiest title run in history.
I watched the Mendes fight again and Conor was losing on the feet too, not to mind the ground where he was dominated.
Been calling him Dan Hardy 2.0 for a while now.
