Media Conor/Chandler - Worst TUF Ever

This season hasn't painted Conor in the most flattering light. Given how heavily edited it is, that MUST be exactly what they want or it would have never got out. Also remember Chandler saying something about how they made Conor seem worse in a certain instance by using footage from separate conversations. Wish I could remember where I saw it.

None of this is surprising because McG's recent cage performance and issues outside it are well known. And despite being boring, Chandler is well-spoken and a babyface if ever there was one. So they needed a heel to stir the pot.

I'm sure the editors did what they could with what they had. When all the footage was put on the cutting board, they wanted maximum drama, good or bad. Even if they'd wanted to, given his team's performance and the footage we've seen of him, there's no way they could have spun McG as some great coach and stand up dude. He's "The Notorious," the bad guy. So they doubled down on that and the best spin they can put on it is asking us to tune in now to see if Conor is in fact the shittiest TUF coach ever.

I didn't watch this season just watched the Jason Knight fight because I always like his fights.

I learned there that this season is veterans vs prospects. Jason is a damn well seasoned veteran, how did the producers of the show tought that him fighting some 5h0 guy was a good idea again ?

I get that McGregor is coked out of his mind and losing the plot but he seems like he really cares about his team and supports them the best he can before and after the fight. You can see that

He clearly doesn't have the in-cage coaching abilities tho because how the hell you let your green prosect guy takedown Jason Knight who is basically a lighter Nate Diaz ? Seems so basic to avoid the ground with him

That being said IMO he's not to blame, the way it's organized is ridiculous. Veteran vs prospect ? Why not UFC champs vs debuting fighters next time

Rampage/Rashad drama.

All HW's, knockout galore. In house drama.

No TUF is ever beating that show. By far the best TUF.

TUF 1 I tuned into. Loved it. TUF 10 is the GOAT TUF.

I thought it was the worst TUF fights wise. Rampage didn't give a F.

To the contrary I loved TUF 7 Rampage/Forrest. Forrest smashing that door was hilarious. And rampage did it a few seasons later lmao

I'm lazy as fuck right now. OP too long, could have good or bad points but I wouldn't knowm and haven't watched an episode. Heard ratings are under expectations(whatever the fuck that means), but not surprised people are tuning out.

If people aren't tuning in it's cause even casuals never watched TUF, and hardcores probably don't think Conor is going to fight again at any serious level. I legit don't know if he'd beat Drew Dober right now. We have no idea where he's at

I haven't watched this abomination of reality TV since the not-a-clusterfuck live season.

I don't get the hate for this show. No shit the manufactured coaches beef and staged house drama is fake and gay. It's been like that since the first season. What makes this show worth watching is the gym sequences, occasionally great coaching, sparring, injuries, weight cuts and what's going through each fighter's head before they get in the cage. That stuff will always be cool to see and it's the only reason I'm still watching this show.

Also I want to see more Jason Knight. That dude is hilarious.

My favorite thing about TUF and any other behind the scenes pieces that the UFC puts together is the training and fight strategy. I can't get enough of it.

But maybe I'm an outlier. I train at an MMA gym myself, so it's not like any of this stuff is unfamiliar, but I really enjoy seeing different training methods and coaching approaches.

McGregor seems like he's blasted on drugs in literally every training scene. It's bizarre and disturbing. It makes me wonder how much his fighters even value his input.

As for Chandler, he's a fairly boring baby face. I wish there was more footage of both he and McGregor interacting with the fighters. I wonder how much time they actually spend with them. Maybe it isn't much

+1

I also train at an MMA gym and competed in combat sports for many years when I was younger. I know it's an edited production, but I still can't get enough of the training sequences and it's cool to see when a coach shows genuine interest in his fighter and strategizes with him around injuries, weight cut, game plan, giving advice during the fight and between rounds. You can't fake rapport.

And even though the head coaches only have 8 weeks (or however long filming is), they definitely set the tone for their teams and should at least be a motivational presence. Chandler comes off like the clean cut wrestling coach he probably is IRL while McG seems to just roll in late to practice, spar with someone, drop some coked up, self-aggrandizing spiel and then drive away in his rented Lambo. I wish they'd show more of the dynamic with the assistant coaches, both between them and the fighters and with the head coaches.

TUF 16 was pretty bad in terms of the talent that stuck around. Neil Magny is the only good takeaway.

That one wich had the participation of Rashad and Rampage was the worst in terms of talent. But the most funny of all.
