Conor and Ronda's downfall are results of the same issue

Ronda's downfall was due to being borderline retarded and having Vietnam-like PTSD from her mother's 24/7 "attack her in her sleep to make her defend" judo training over many years. She didn't want to put in that 24/7 work over long periods anymore and she didn't want to look stupid being the noob.

Conor achieved his dream of becoming rich and started fighting dudes his size instead of midget-lets.

They both are not naturally gifted athletes. Conor gets winded after one round and Ronda she can’t learn how to box. They honestly are lucky to go that far due to the UFC hyping machine
Lmfao

It doesn't matter small or big gym. You need to be consistent and train hard. Most big gyms are just big facilities with different teams of coaching. It's mainly one on one training vs big group of people training together. There are also smaller teams of people who work together. It is a bit uncommon nowadays to have a big huge team practice.
Some people thrive in different environments. Also clarify the term small gym. It is about size of gym/members vs popularity? SBG has a few hundred regular members as opposed to something like ATT that doesn't take in general members. You have to be a fighter to train there.

Really though I don't think she was even looking for the clinch that much, early Rousey used punches as cover to get it but by that point...

To be fair, this is a clip from the very end of the fight, at which point Ronda had tried several times to clinch, throw and failed. She was spent, frantic and confused, ready to be finished.

You don't think camps that are trying to dethrone champs or keep belts aren't taking extra credits in finding common looks across those athletes? I wouldn't be surprised if they are at a point where they can identify what stage of development each fighter is from each coach. You don't even need 1000s of hours of video to review. Get a former student to explain the system and then compare it to fights to see what aspects appear especially involuntary moves that only come from countless hours of repetition.

Once they scout that every single fighter from that camp is fucked.

LOL what did I just read…

Because mma fans would rather cheer for a dude who threatens peoples families than someone who did something as heinous and insidious as saying "dont cry"

What Ronda did was despicable and not accepted

Conor does not want to work hard anymore. John mentioned that he wants to see Conor back to training in "nightmare camps" which he used to do but Conor felt that idiot portal movement bullshit is better than training in martial arts for MMA. He was doing great with implementing TKD/Karate in his style. All was well until he chose a gimmicky training that failed him and he became disillusioned.
I agree except for the part about Portal’s movement training. Conor visibly started regressing and flat footed when he stopped movement training, which was actually very useful for his TKD/Karate style.

he fell in love with the idea that he was a boxer and this, combined with 1) being a part time MMA fighter, 2) overly inflated ego that doesn’t like doing extremely hard camps and 3) his skills not inproving is what did him in.

Another reason was that he became TOO successful and TOO rich

Hunger was gone

You are wrong on every account.

Ronda LEFT Gokor and Gene because they wouldn't bend backwards for her ego. She wanted a cheerleader and she found it in Edmond. Gokor is tough, he does not put up with anyone's bullshit be they famous or not. Karo left to go to Xtreme couture. It was a bad move and he went back to Gokor again. Ronda simply retired.

He wasn't doing Ido Portal"s movement training instead of martial arts training, it was just supplementary and he was having success during the time with Ido... It's when he started focusing on boxing is when it really went down hill.

Something happened mentally to Conor immediately after the Floyd fight. His personality changed a lot for the worse, and started getting into trouble. Similar to the NFL player Antonio Brown after he got KOd from a huge hit.

He was already pretty wealthy before the Floyd fight, so not sure the money was the main cause.

Hard to say, those small gyms also revolved around them and fed their ego and confidence. If Conor was wrestle fucked in every sparring session and Ronda was punched in the mouth over and over, that might've hurt that brash attitude that worked so well for their pockets.

I don't see money being the big factor, no hungry Conor would have beaten a bigger, stronger wrestler with a granite chin and decent gas tank , no poor Ronda would have done better against a good striker that can stop the TD and matched her physical attributes. Sometimes you just can't close that gap no matter what.

They were both incredibly overhyped, one dimensional fighters. That's why. You can throw Brock in there too.

Ever notice how the well rounded guys tend to be the ones who go on long successful runs and the one dimensional guys are the ones who get super famous for a couple years then flame out?

It's not a coincidence.
