i don't think it was due to small gyms, both got complacent and wanted easy training camps; Rhonda wasn't having any of that in Gokor so she went to Coach Edmund extraordinaire and he regressed her by made her think she was a boxer...
Mcg was similar but he was fighting in FW so his skills were tailor made for that division but once he came up with fighting Floyd and moving to LW he discarded his old stance (kicks to open distance and set up his left) and went to pure boxing, plus not training hard enough/controlling the training and Irish edmund not pushing him because of the fear of losing him.
