I dont think anyone is arguing he should be in trouble for having sex with a 17 year old. He is 19 so that is not the issue. I turned 18 prior to my girlfriend in High School. I did not magically stop having sex with her. Her 18th birthday was 4 months after mine.
The issue is his stupid ass thought it was a fantastic idea to tape himself having sex with 17 year old as an adult, and an even more brilliant idea to show the video to other people.
That part of his arrest is going to be a lifetime problem. He will probably have to register as a sex offender.
The girlfriend probably agreed to the filming but it still did not make his choices after the filming, any better.

Honestly not what I was doing and I never argued there was a maturity difference when you magically turn 18. No idea why you are making up an argument I never made. All I said is that I think its perfectly fine for there to be a hard line when it comes to recording sexual acts with a minor. You keep saying there shouldn't be a hard line for this, that is what I mean by you preferring nuance. You'd prefer there be some wiggle room depending on the age in order for there to be a crime. I'd rather there not be that wiggle room for it to be a crime, but I am perfectly fine with that wiggle room existing when it comes to sentencing/the harshness of the penalty.

ken buck just announced he's retiring this month. he holds the CO-4 seat lauren hoebert wants to run for. but in order for her to run for that seat in the special election, she has to give up her current seat in congress. and if she doesnt make a run, that's pretty much going to cockblock her from being in congress after 2024 as someone else will have that seat she wants after this special election is over and it's too late for her to make a bid for the other seats now. basically she has to vacate her current seat in order to run for this one. and then she has to win it and she's been getting dumpstered in that district so good luck with that lol.
