Thirty beans, tho. The wait might be worth it.

I'm all geeked about that Doom story. Imma sleep on it, but I might pull the trigger Thur. If I get it I'll let you borrow it.

August is almost here! Just buy the 12.97 version now, and when it comes it'll be like a economical surprise.

i'm considering dropping uncanny, all-new, and avengers. i have been thinking about it and i see bendis's x-titles going the way of the Siege story-line a few years ago. hero vs hero with a bunch of b list fillers you have been forced to read about for a year or so who end up being sacrificial lambs so that some huge, epic, money grabbing crossover event can feel like it had great consequences on the marvel universe i.e. sentry and ares dying. the only difference is sentry and ares were mildly interesting and bendis's new characters aren't. same goes for hickman's avengers. look for most of the filler characters to die in the infinity event. end rant.

Siege was one of Marvels best events. A perfectly written 4 part series. Had some awesome character moments and basically closed out 6 years of storylines..

if I were you id stick with the X books and Hickmans Avengers, hes a slow builder and I think aafter all is said and done his Avengers will be epic, especially with Infinity coming out in August.

Just finished the first volume of Supreme Power on MAX. It was pretty good. I was worried it was going to be over the top with the violence and sex, but it really wasn't.

A local comic shop in jersey a few years back was going out of business and all their hardcover graphic novels were 50-60% off.

I got lucky enough to buy all of JMS's Supreme Power in oversized hardcover format and boy am I glad I purchased these..

All in all I think they are must reads for comic fans, when JMS is at his best his work is untouchable and I think this is some of his best mainstream work ever.

Doctor Doom and Doctor Strange enter Mephisto's realm in an all-out effort to free the soul of Doctor Doom's mother! But what price must be paid before Mephisto will release it? And will Doctor Doom make the sacrifice?

thanks for posting that dude, Im a pretty big comic book fan and have never even heard a thing about this, im going to preorder the hardcover on Amazon but the soft cover price is dirt cheap, $13, so low.

I don't know if you've read this yet but I suggest getting this and adding it to your collection, I love Image comics, they just have so much amazing stuff, so here are two picks for you, im not sure if you even have read this but here I go anyway.

Hickmans NIGHTLY NEWS

Lock & Key (which isn't Image but its awesome) and Vaughn's Saga.. I googled Lock & Key and this picture actually came up so I said, hell with it ill post both titles since theyre both great.

Locke & Key is great, can't wait for the Omega serie to finish so I can read it all at once.

The Cape by Joe Hill is also pretty good, though more classical.

Covers are DOPE!!!

those covers are awesome, and the doom/strange sounds awesome.

and coincidentally, i was looking through some of my daredevil comics earlier (essentially the only comics i collected) and came across a daredevil annual with a cover by mignola. that didn't really mean much to me all those years ago, but it was a nice surprise today.

the weakest x book is definitely legacy. I don't know why I keep following bit I do.

And avengers is just eh to me.

Well Legacy is a strait up hipster comic book, if youre a hipster youd swear its better than All New and Uncanny, which it isn't...

Listen ill admit I loved Bendis Avengers which is a controversial thing to say, even those his sales numbers don't lie, his Avengers sold like hot cakes...

I like Hickmans Avengers, its much different than Bendis's version but im enjoying it as well... Its a much slower build and he is playing with characters we don't see in the front and center that much.

I've read some Locke & Key. I think its pretty awesome so far.
I've heard great things about Saga but haven't tuned in yet.
Nightly News is new to me, imma check that out.

I'm also a big fan of Image. Have you looked at Chew?
Set in a world where all chicken and other bird meats are illegal, after a catastrophic outbreak of the bird flu that killed 23 million Americans, Chew centers on Tony Chu, a police detective who is a Cibopath (pronounced "see-bo-path"[3]).

Its one of the most original books I've ever read. Its at issue 33 right now and it might be losing a bit of steam but up until maybe 24 it was just excellent. Funny and imaginative.

or Who is Jake Ellis?
Who Is Jake Ellis? is an American espionage comic book published in 2011. Written by Nathan Edmondson with art by Tonci Zonjic, it is published by Image Comics. The story follows Jon Moore, a former analyst for the Central Intelligence Agency. Several years before, Moore had escaped from an illegal laboratory where he had been subject to various experiments related to remote viewing. The experiments resulted in Moore seeing Jake Ellis, a ghostly figure with extensive knowledge of espionage tradecraft. With Jake providing tactical advice, Moore has become a successful criminal in Western Europe, all the time trying to avoid the Americans who he believes were responsible for his imprisonment.

Its only 6 issues and its awesome. The follow-up run is Where is Jake Ellis?, which is currently at issue 3 of 4?

Also Invincible and more recently Five Ghosts.

Been looking at trying out some Lock and Key when I get some more free time. Nice to see Joe Hill doing something separate from his father (Stephen King if you didn't know for some reason). Also like how he's using a different pen name and creating his own legacy.

pretty wimpy comicshop trip today. i walked away with uncanny avengers and five ghosts both of which were good reads. the apocalypse twins under the tutelage of Kang the Conqueror can only be epic. i am having a hard time finding prophet issues 27 and 33. they aren't even on amazon. i've been to 4 different comic/bookstores in my area with no luck. that book must have a really low print run. in my search i did find Uber#0 the enhanced edition and the propaganda variant for Uber #1.

Finally started Preacher, about 10 issues in, and holy fuck. His grandmother might be the vilest creature in comic book history.

Do you have a smart phone/tablet? Prophet's entire run is available in digital format.

That's weird. Can't the comic shops order them for you?

That said, it is very similar in tone and setting to many Stephen King stories imo. That's not a criticism btw, because I love the story but I definitely see the connection between the two.

a local comic shop had a 50% off sale on free comic book day and I picked up the first two volumes of Chew in this beautiful oversized hardcover. I haven't had time to sit down and read them yet but im looking forward to. Youre one of the many who says its a must read..

Thanks for the selections, ill try the other one you suggested as well..

I also have heard this is great but have yet to pick it up...

no smart phone or tablet and even if i did i'm one of those weird types that likes to have the physical comic. i also like supporting my local comic shops. i've got one more shop i'm gonna check and then i'll break and order it. sometimes the hunt for the comic is half the fun.

for example i went to a local bookstore that carries some comics and they had a couple of issues of prophet i was missing and they charged me a $1.00 less for each comic and i never would have found Henry and Glenn forever and ever. i also found a couple of uber variants while at another comicshop i rarely frequent. it kinda gives me an excuse to venture out to other shops i normally wouldn't.

I used to love the pursuit, too. Now I go strictly on impulse and the new store is not convenient at all.
