i just finished the 1st Fatale tpb and it was good. if you liked brubaker's cap run i would recommend it. it is a combination of noir storytelling with horror elements. i would say it's a combination of Sin city and H.P. Lovecraft. it has a classy understated feel to it as opposed to the heavy handedness of Frank Miller and i don't mean that as a knock against frank at all.

The Savage Axe of Ares is a pretty sweet comic. Shame they only put out one issue.

i liked ares as a character and didn't mind sentry but in hindsight it is obvious what they were created for. i liked ares appearance in greg pak's Warmachine comic around that time. it was cool to see the god of war face a warmachine. poor pak i like his writing but his books tend to do poorly and end up getting utterly unreadable due to the crap artists he is assigned.:icon_sad:

Just finished the first volume of Supreme Power on MAX. It was pretty good. I was worried it was going to be over the top with the violence and sex, but it really wasn't.

My love of Superman has caused me minor debt.
This finally arrived in the mail.

today i bought a little indie comic called Henry and Glenn forever and ever. it's about the misadventures of Henry Rollins and Glenn Danzig who are seemingly very close friends or possibly life partners. the shop only had issue no2 but it came with two variant covers and never fall for variants but i loved the concept so much i bought both. the covers alone justify the price. the creator is actually going to be doing a signing at the shop tomorrow and i hope to score the first issue then. I would post the covers but my internet skills are weak.:icon_sad:

awesome, speaking of Superman, I hope you have this in your collection

I have just finished Superman: Secret Identity and wow, it's not only one of the best Superman stories ever probably one of the best stories ever. Now Busiek doesn't make this your typical Superman story, but he certainly keeps all the elements of what makes Superman great. The Dialogue is great, can't get any better story telling than that. The art I imagine wouldn't be for everyone, but I certainly enjoyed it, so kudos to Stuart Immonen

Everyone this is a must read!

is that the one written by j.michael straczynski(sp)? i've flipped through it a couple times and pondered getting it. does it have anything to do with hyperion and the squadron supreme or am i thinking of something else?

i like that supes looks like a normal guy until you realize he is levitating off the ground slightly.

and can you tell me about this strange-doom novel... I don't know what this is.

I'm mobile pwnd so I can't link anything but its called Triumph and Torment. I don't recall if Mignola wrote it but he is the artist

Finally picked up an issue of Five Ghosts and gotta say I was underwhelmed. The concept sounded cool, but I'm not really feeling it

ya that is something I could understand, not all local shops carry every graphic novel though..

I use Amazon as well, amazing deals...

Yes, I'm also curious!

Doctor Doom and Doctor Strange enter Mephisto's realm in an all-out effort to free the soul of Doctor Doom's mother! But what price must be paid before Mephisto will release it? And will Doctor Doom make the sacrifice?

It was pretty pricey as I recall. I gave in because my local guys couldn't get it and they have a small chain.
