Crossed was just too damn nasty, even for me. I read a couple of issues and then gave up.
As for The Boys...
All this time, Billy thought it was the Homelander who raped his wife, which obviously caused her death when their super-powered baby tore it's way out of her womb.
It turns outs that Vought-American had used DNA from the the Nazi superhuman Stormfront to create both the Homelander and Black Noir. They manipulated Noir's DNA to make him even stronger than the Homelander("He can Bench a dozen Mack trucks")and conditioned him to be the perfect assassin; he was to stay close to Homelander at all times. If Homelander ever became too much of a liability, Black Noir would be ordered to kill him.
But the constant strain of living with his target for years, yet not being allowed to carry out the mission he had been born and bred for, drove Noir insane. He was physically identical to Homelander, so when he put on the costume and photographed himself carrying out rape, murder, necrophilia and cannibalism - including, apparently, "Raping a baby in half" - everyone who saw the pictures would believe Homelander to be responsible. But Vought still refused to give Noir the kill order, so he sent the photos to Butcher, who used them to blackmail VA and the Seven.
Even the Homelander came to believe he had carried out the terrible crimes in the photos, and this finally drove him to commit mass murder and attempt a coup of the US Government, since he believed he was already a psychopathic killer. When he finally realized the truth, he was enraged and attacked Noir, who tore him apart, though Homelander inflicted terrible damage himself; tearing open Noir's stomach and almost severing one of his arms.
Noir was eventually brought down by heavy machinegun fire from US Marines outside the White House, and killed by Butcher, who used his crowbar to lever off the top of Noir's skull, before gouging out part of his brain...
Well I'm glad Ennis at least came up with a twist for it. Still won't get me to finish the comic though.
