Maybe deviantart?

Try hitting them up and see if they want to work with you.

Be careful though because they might steal your idea.

thats what I'm worried about but honestly I dont really care too much I just think it would be a cool story. Maybe I'll post it here and see what you guys think when I have some time.

can't remember if i've asked this before but has anyone read The Boys and if so is it recommended reading?

Ehhhhh... when I was an Ennis fanboy I thought The Boys was totally radtastic and edgy as fuck. But now I just see it as Ennis being at his most faux-edgy and I'm kind of embarrassed for thinking it was so great.

i'll put the boys on the backburner in that case. i'll let you know what i think of prophet soon. i also want to start invincble. i've been sitting on the first 3 trades for months now.

The idea itself behind The Boys is actually good and could have been interesting. But Ennis decided to make it SOOOO EDGY and just took a huge shit on cape comics.

I stopped reading around issue 18 so it could have gotten better. Probably not though.

Darick Robertson just doesn't have what it takes; his artwork detracts from Ennis, turning it into a schlockfest. It's like Warren Ellis' work with Avatar Comics -- he's a decent-as-hell writer but without the artist to really sell the ideas they often fall flat.

i can see that being the case. i was kinda worried about that being the case with UBER since it is being put out by avatar also. i'm a fan of kieron gillen's writing and loved the concept but was worried about the talent of the artist they would assign but the art ended up being decent and better than i had hoped. i think the artists name is canaan white.

(Takes off jacket)Right pal - ootside! Me an' you, Square Go!!:icon_evil:icon_chee

I read The Boys from start to finish and it remains one of my favorite Comics. That does not mean, however, that I'm blind to it's faults. Some of the story arcs were very slow. And, as a Scot, I freely admit that Wee Hughie was easily the weakest character.

I got severely pissed off with his whining at times; yeah it must be terrible having superhuman strength, stamina etc, and a smoking hot girlfriend who's also a Superhero. Cry me a river.

That said, I did enjoy Garth pissing all over the Justice League of America, the X Men, the Avengers and just about every other major Superhero. I thought the final twist regarding the death of Billy's wife was nicely done. And I, for one, thought the artwork fitted the story perfectly.

Five Ghosts sounds kind of like the now cancelled Cowboy Ninja Viking:

arrrghh. now i'm torn. one of the things i liked about preacher so much was the relationships between jesse and tulip and jesse's friendship with cassidy. i don't think the story would have been as good if you didn't care about the characters as much. i went from thinking cassidy was great to utterly despising him and then back again. does the boys have that kind of writing or is it mostly perverted shock type stuff with no heart?

Hey I don't hate Ennis. His run on Punisher MAX is probably my favorite comic of all time. His other Punisher stuff is good too. And Preacher was a lot of fun. I'm just not a fan his shit like The Boys and Crossed anymore. It's just way too forced and obvious for me now.

But I would like to know what the twist with Billy's wife is. So spoil that shit for me.

And I would like to recommend a miniseries from DC that I didn't even know existed until a few days ago called The Light Brigade.

Someone started an obscure comics thread on another forum and this popped up and I decided to check it out. And it was pretty fucking great.

There's a war in heaven and Earth is the battleground in this original supernatural action adventure/horror story set during World War II.

This epic tale revolves around a ragtag squad of U.S. soldiers that must recover the mysterious Sword of God, a heavenly artifact coveted by angels and demons, before the descendants of fallen angels disguised as Nazis. If they aren't successful, the world will be destroyed. It's a good thing they've got a mysterious, immortal Roman Centurion fighting on their side to even the odds.

light brigade sounds interesting to. i'll ask about it at my lcs tomorrow. my wallet is getting ruined.:icon_cry2

Crossed was just too damn nasty, even for me. I read a couple of issues and then gave up.

As for The Boys...

All this time, Billy thought it was the Homelander who raped his wife, which obviously caused her death when their super-powered baby tore it's way out of her womb.

It turns outs that Vought-American had used DNA from the the Nazi superhuman Stormfront to create both the Homelander and Black Noir. They manipulated Noir's DNA to make him even stronger than the Homelander("He can Bench a dozen Mack trucks")and conditioned him to be the perfect assassin; he was to stay close to Homelander at all times. If Homelander ever became too much of a liability, Black Noir would be ordered to kill him.

But the constant strain of living with his target for years, yet not being allowed to carry out the mission he had been born and bred for, drove Noir insane. He was physically identical to Homelander, so when he put on the costume and photographed himself carrying out rape, murder, necrophilia and cannibalism - including, apparently, "Raping a baby in half" - everyone who saw the pictures would believe Homelander to be responsible. It was Black Noir, not the Homelander, who raped Billy's wife. She, like everyone else, thought it was the Homelander.

But Vought still refused to give Noir the kill order, so he sent the photos to Butcher, who used them to blackmail VA and the Seven.

Even the Homelander came to believe he had carried out the terrible crimes in the photos, and this finally drove him to commit mass murder and attempt a coup of the US Government, since he believed he was already a psychopathic killer. When he finally realized the truth, he was enraged and attacked Noir, who tore him apart, though Homelander inflicted terrible damage himself; tearing open Noir's stomach and almost severing one of his arms.

Noir was eventually brought down by heavy machinegun fire from US Marines outside the White House, and killed by Butcher, who used his crowbar to lever off the top of Noir's skull, before gouging out part of his brain...

I read The Boys and enjoyed it. Yes, he went over the top in several respects but that's just Garth Ennis. As for taking a huge shit on cape comics, I think that was the intent.

I do agree that it could have been done better, but overall, The Boys was a pretty good series.
