Five Ghosts looks interesting.
 
If you guys haven't already, you should read Adventures of Superman Chapter 2 written and drawn by Jeff Lemiere, awesome mini Superman story

At the very least I can say that what happened doesn't fuck with retcons and stuff but I just really don't like the way they are going. I think the series will still be good and it will lead to some interesting things but I am not pleased at all at the moment haha.

Finished reading all the Superior Spider-Man books and I don't get what the fuss is all about regarding issue #9. It's the same reaction I have to people complaining about Doc Ock replacing Spider-Man. Unless people have just started reading comic books recently, we all know that Peter Parker will eventually return. So for the meantime, just enjoy the ride. Dan Slott has had an incredible run on the Spidey title and Superior Spider-Man is just flat-out entertaining.

A few musings. Ock has been living up to the name Superior Spider-Man as I found some of his approach to crime-fighting to be more efficient and effective than Peter's. Ock's spider robots alone are a huge asset.

When Mary Jane was in danger from the Vulture children, Ock passed by a mugging. Peter wanted Ock to intervene but Ock ignored it. When he arrives to the scene, he barely saves a falling MJ. If it was Peter and he wasted a few seconds to stop the mugging, MJ would have been dead by now.

When Jonah Jameson used a Spider-Signal (similar to the Bat-Signal used by Gordon), Ock smashed it and admonished JJJ because it would have alerted Spider-Man's enemies on where he would be. I never thought of it that way but makes perfect sense. The Bat-Signal is impractical, especially in this modern era, and as Ock pointed out, it should attract all of Batman's enemies to that location.

Anyways, Aquaman is next.
 
started reading the walking dead. was never really interested in it but got bored and finished the first tpb.

uhh, this is one of the rare times i'm going to say the show is better. for anyone that has read the books and watched the show the reason for my opinion is obvious.

If the you are implying the latest season of the show is better then the books, I don't even want to give the books a shot. The last season was awful
 
i saw the first season of the show but it wasn't the same as the comic

i liked the comic better.

show was okay doe but havent felt like watching anymore after the first season

i am comparing the first book to the equivalent time frame covered in the show. nothing beyond.

The artwork reminds me of Sal Buscema, especially the way he draws the hands in the second cover with the giant spider.
 
just got back from the comic book shop sale. i broke my routine and bought no marvel stuff. i picked up prophet vol.1 on chief's recommendation, hard not to when it was 50% off an the retail was 9.99. i also got 5 ghosts 1 and 2 also a chief recommendation. I picked up ed brubaker's fatale vol 1 and 2 for 50% off and issues 12 and 13 they didn't have 11.:icon_cry2 I took a chance on something called night of 1,000 wolves. i've never heard of it but involves werewolves and vikings and looks bad ass. that was 60% off as well and bought my gf scott pilgrim vol. 1 at 60% off. i kinda hope they stop with the sales soon i have poor self control.:icon_chee
 
i was close to buying some hellboy but his library is pretty large and i was looking for stuff that wasn't so far along.
 
I still haven't picked up Batman #20 and JLA #3. How were they for those who read?

Batman 20 was entertaining, but it was mostly filler. It did have a reference to the Batman Beyond bat-suit though, which was fun. And JLA 3 was alright, but the art took a nose dive. I think they're bringing in a new artist though which it definitely needs.
 
has anyone read the crisis, infinite crisis, final crisis series?


i'm thinking of purchasing them

Trades are the way to go with HB. There are only 57 issues total and 12 in-continuity TPBs for HB. Don't be intimidated. The paperback trades are sturdy and cost $18 new. You can probably find them used for 1/2 that price on Amazon or Ebay.

"In-continuity" means the main story, it doesn't include specials and offshoots.
