Anyone ever read Superman: Secret Identity? I see nothing but great reviews for this, people calling it a modern classic, anyway I just ordered it so hopefully it lives up to the hype

As I was saying... I read it the other day and yes it is a great story.

on All-Star Superman level? I haven't read Secret Origin or Birthright, but apparently Busiek's story craps all over John's and Waid's story even though it's non-canon/elseworld

Well it's a more personal story. This version of Superman doesn't battle killer robots, alien gods, or Lex Luthor. The story starts off with a kid who's named Clark Kent, but he isn't THEE Clark Kent. His parents named him after Superman as a joke cause Superman exists in their universe only in comics. But he eventually discovers he has superpowers similar to Superman and decides to basically become him.

He pretty much exists in our world. There are no other superheroes or supervillains. Most of the time when he's flying around as Superman he's saving people from natural disasters or accidents or escaping the government, who's trying to catch him and study him. The story is more focused on his personal life and his relationships with people.

So in that regard it's even classier.

HELLBOY: THE MIDNIGHT CIRCUS Announced at C2E2

Awesome news. I gave up looking up news about wtf Mignola was planning for HB a few months ago.

This sounds pretty epic, too:
“This one owes a lot to Ray Bradbury’s Something Wicked This Way Comes (pretty much my favorite circus story of all time), but even more to Pinocchio—especially all the spooky, disturbing bits Disney left out. And the work Duncan is doing here is just flat-out amazing,” said Mignola

Thx Dragon

i like it, sounds good

And I would recommend Secret Origin and Birthright too. But I suggest you read Secret Origin before Birthright since it's the weaker story. Birthright blows it out of the water.

Just borrowed some stuff off my buddy

Old Man Logan
Wolverine: Weapon X

Looking forward to these two. Heard the origins are very good. Also found Hellboy Vol.1 in my closet.

I really enjoyed Last Son, will probably get John's Superman: Brainiac soon, heard good things about that too

gotta get on that Superman reading before Man of Steel movie

You just hit the jackpot my friend.

I keep meaning to read Last Son, but the last issue or whatever being all blurry because it's in 3D really bugs the hell out of me.

Hell Boy Volume 1 is definitely one of my favourite purchases. It's also one of the best put together pieces of art I've ever seen. Cool material on the bindings and such.

Once I settle down a bit I am definitely going to buy the rest of them. Will look great all together.

Excellent. Two of my favorite Wolverine stories.

Yes, Mignola's art is amazing and perfect for the HB universe. Any other artists attempt to recreate that feeling fails.

You're going to flip when you see BWS' art in Weapon X.

Leave for Cuba Tuesday. Looks like I'll have something good to read on the flight.

Has anyone read Secret Six by Gail Simone? The premise intrigues me, but I'm hesitant to read a comic written by a woman because I'm sexist like that.

well that's a shame, Gail is a talented writer

As long as it isn't full of feminist/progressive propaganda bullshit I'll read it, which is what her new comic The Movement IS full of. That's why I'm hesitant.
