Colby Covington is still radio silent

Masvidal will be sitting in prison and his family will have nothing. Good call on trying to be a tough guy in public, Jorge.

What do you guys believe his thought process to be?

It's pretty simple, the guy is a fence sitter and cherry picker just like Justin Gaethje. He will not risk his spot fighting down...ever. Should be bumped down in the rankings.

I'm guessing it's because every interview will be asking questions about the Jorge incident and him going the legal route he isn't allowed to talk about it. Easier to just not do them. It's been about 4 or 5 months since his last fight so not terribly long for a guy at his level. I'm guess in the next month or two we'll get some Colby fighting news.

Truthfully, not a lot of fights available to him right now. Burns might make the most sense from a ranking standpoint. Him Dustin are always yapping. Maybe a guy like Belal but that doesn't sound like great exciting match up for anyone. I think they want Khamzat vs Usman after there next fights. I doubt they'd match up Colby with Khamzat yet as it gives them a potential fresh title fight possibility in later 2023.

who cumshot? colby was vocal about him, he aint fighting no hype train with quick push just so cumshot could steal some shine. he will waint untill he proves himself to fight him
Lmao, if beating Burns isn't enough, then Colby only beating Lawler, Woodley, and Masvidal since 2018 doesn't count. Unless you want to argue Jake Paul has earned a Colby fight. Khamzat could beat those 3 any day he wants.

To be silent and focus on his legal case and on training. Can't also focus on media too, even social media. It takes away from those more important things. Besides if he did media people would start asking him about the case, and any good lawyer will tell you to not talk about the case in public as long as the case hasn't concluded yet. Whatever you say could possibly be used against you in court.

Which would be very difficult to integrate with the persona he's created. He's invented this character who's a shoot-from-the-hip, anti-PC, speak-your-mind asshole and he'd have to be saying shit in interviews like, "I can't comment on that right now." It wouldn't work.

I hope Jorge gets the book thrown at him. Physical assault as a result of being offended by words is absolute pussy-thug shit. Will Smith should be in big shit, too. However, I can't say I'm sad that dickhead Colby has been silenced for a while.

Indeed, and it might actually slip out by accident if he did try to avoid it. Insulting Masvidal is something that seems a part of the routine, that he may not be able to shake off that easily.

Luque is not nearly as close of a threat as the other 3 and I doubt Colby has a problem facing any of them, if it also makes business sense. Dude is a pro fighter with real confidence in himself. Dude has put in on Usman twice, and never quit despite the adversity he faced in those fights. If you think he is afraid to fight anyone in his weight class, you don't really understand the mindset of an elite fighter. No offense.

I understand risk/reward and business.

Luque is not as big of a threat, but he has 1 shot KO power. As do the other guys.

He has very little to gain by fighting these guys and a lot to lose. If it's not a title shot or a money fight, it does not make sense to fight right now.

It makes sense because it will bring him closer to a third titleshot. Especially if Usman would not be the champ in the future anymore. Not only would it firmly keep him at the top of the division if he were to beat any of them, but he would also take out a competitor for the titleshot. Increasing his chance of a third shot even more. It would also make sense for his legacy. He does care about his legacy.

There are a lot of WW prospects climbing the ranks and the money fights in Poirier and Nate might not be available in the past. The UFC aren't gonna give him a third shot without him actually facing solid competition, especially if he has been inactive for a long time, while others haven't been.

Yes, he (and the others) does have one shot KO power, so does Usman, Jorge and Woodley though. It's not something he hasn't delt with before. And Colby has shown to have a hell of a chin.

It's possible he might think that if the belt changes hands, he'll be next up for a title shot without having to fight.

But if you think he's not tactically staying on the sidelines, you must think he's putting all his hope into this lawsuit, because the guy becomes less relevant in the UFC with each passing day. This doesn't make any sense either though, I don't see him making that much money with this lawsuit.

The lawsuit isn't only about money. Though he could possibly get a good amount if he could show he has actual damages . But it's also a personal thing for him.

The point of it is that he doesn't want to fuck up his lawsuit. He could very likely screw himself if he talked to the media, while he is putting a lot of effort and money into the case. And that would all go to waste if he shot himself in the foot during an interview or in a tweet. Jorge's lawyers will get wind of anything he says in the media and they will use it against him if they can.

Besides, if he managed to win the case he could use that to get in the headlines again and talk a bunch of shit. And I doubt he minds taking a break from the constant press 'duties' either. Look at Ronda and Conor, they both did a hell of a lot of press and they both eventually got sick of it. Taking a break is needed to give the mind some rest.

Last name he's spoken was Dustin Poirier at LW. Colby wants nothing to do with the new breed at WW. Don't even remember him mentioning Khamzat exists.
"Cumshot Chimaev"

He doesn't fight often but his fights are usually 5 rounders. He probably just needs a break.

Who knows, maybe the guy has legit brain damage and can’t fight anymore

He’s trying to ruin Jorge and his legal team have said to say quiet.

But you’re right. If this drags on, as many legal battles do, will he be spending him prime doing fuck all?
No one should ever trust their lawyer on how much they might win in a lawsuit. They don't care about you, they win either way.

Not sure I buy all this. He spent all that time talking shite because he wanted to. He wanted to expand his profile, to make some real money in the UFC.

Now, he's thrown all that to the side because of this case. Because it's personal? No, I don't think so. It's always been about money for him, lighting up someone he's beefing with has been icing on the cake. I think it's because he thinks he's going to get a huge payday from this.

That's kind of dumb, because 1) he's basically giving up on his UFC career, and 2) I don't even think he has a shot to make that much money.
