no it's not at least not in the way people think it is, it's only in 7 states and then only if they both presented themselves as if they were married and that means they acted like and told everyone they were married, which he never did he said they were engaged. Child support has nothing to do with marriage but it's way different than being able to sue for half of his assets, though like a said some judges do rule in favor of the woman who sues but not on the basis of common law marriage so it's not a divorce settlement it's a lawsuit that she is owed for her contribution and what she gave up to support him.

He'll be paying a ton of child support, in the case of rich people judges typically rule the kids have to have a lifestyle at least close to what they are use to. That may be what made him think being married to the mother made a difference, but it's not being married it's the act of raising them in an affluent household.
