Coker Can't Handle Critisicm Threatening To Sue Askren

It’s true though he is speaking without any knowledge whatsoever and casuals believe anything UFC fighters say. Askren should shut his mouth. He couldn’t be further from the truth. Bellator is doing very well under Coker, they have never been more valuable. Askren is making a baseless claim.

How do you know Askren is not correct?

This is not "criticism", thread starter. Criticism would be something like "Coker sucks at his job" or "Askren is a loud-mouthed idiot who was badly exposed". And, being subjective, it would be largely protected by law.

This, however, is a verifiable statement purporting to be objective, like "Ben Askren was finished in his last 2 UFC fights", or "Askren is 5' 11" ".

If you make such statements while knowing they are false, you can absolutely be sued. Especially when you're a public figure who still ostensibly has a working relationship with a rival company (the UFC) and the plaintiff can prove damages. (In this case, devaluing Bellator's worth as they shop for a new company to stream their content with)

Coker might have a great case here.

Meh, you can't be sued for speculation it is for sale (unless he has inside knowledge and it is for sale and it is viewed his trying to drive the price down).

TBH anything is for sale for the right price. They would sell Bellator to UFC in a microsecond if the offer was right.

1. he would have to prove there was financial loss (damages)
2. he would have to prove damages came as a direct result of Askrens comments (liability)
