Crime Cohen pleads guilty, says he lied

Someone tell me for real, no right or left wing stuff, what is going on and what it means.

I'm having a hard time following this stuff so I could be off and if I am I'm sure someone will put me in my place.

So the big thing here is this. Cohen originally gave testimony to congress or whatever. Then after that Trump submitted answers to several questions that were presented to him in writing to Mueller. What people are speculating is that Trump's answer's conflict with Cohens new testimony. After Cohen admitted to lying he apparently re-answered his questions truthfully this time. Except that news didn't come out until after Trump already gave his answers to Mueller. So basically perjury.

+1 to those of us who knew he was shady af before he was even nominated.

It wasn't rocket science.

I'll say this, he was kind of America's punchline for a long time. It is pretty astounding that he was able to work with that to the level he did, regardless of how he did it. That's a real Baxter-eating-a-wheel-of-cheese type of shocking.

So that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt to you that Trump Colluded with Russia to meddle in the 2016 elections?

That's quite a fantasy you got going there. <13>

But let's get real : They could(and will) find ZERO proof and you'd still BITCH about Trump anyway so what's the point? <{outtahere}>

Lol @ zero proof

The president's former personal lawyer and problem fixer just pled guilty to lying to Congress about what the POTUS knew to protect him.
It made clear a few things.

Cohen will no longer "take a bullet for" the president.

Mueller will charge people who lie to Congressional committees and he's sending that message.

Especially for a guy who's killed so many businesses.

I wonder.

What might actually touch Individual 1 is crimes, probably financial, that got uncovered during the course of the investigation.

There will be tax evasion and money laundering I believe. Remember what we know now is probably less than 1% of what Mueller knows. Trump has been dirty his whole life.

Collusion will be there for sure but will be 4th or 5th on the list.

I keep telling the bots how investigations work.
I'd wager Mueller knows the answers to a solid 90% of the questions he asks.
That's the "perjury trap": being asked questions and getting caught in lies when the answer is found to be untrue.

Yup. Trump and his team of lawyers are way outmatched by Mueller and we will see this when the report is released. Trump may want to move to Russia when it’s all over. Uday and Qusay too

Not only that, people seem to think investigators acted without some reason to believe the source even though it has turned out to be credible. And the same people would have us believe investigations that are based partially on an informant aren't warranted unless the informant really likes the accused.

even if the investigation finds not enough of anything to charge Trump or get him impeached this investigation was still warranted based on all the peripheral charges that have already been filed and all the information dug up about Russian investigation.

Put it this way. If you work out of an off space you own, and sub divide that space to 3 other groups. it is found there are drugs being sold out of that office and you and everyone in that office get investigated. It is not a witch hunt that they investigated you if they find only the other 3 groups sold the drugs and they exonerate you. the investigation was absolutely valid and needed.

so this idea that this is a witch hunt is just stupid as it has ALREADY been substantiated as not a witch hunt even if Trump is exonerated (which he won't be).

I hope you realize how stupid your comment is.

Muller gathers evidence and when ready presents it to prosecutors or the House.

There should be no expectation that before he does that you will have proof beyond a shadow of a doubt and it would be painfully stupid to say because you have not seen what he has that means he has nothing.

the POINT is the investigation and what it provides in its conclusion.

Evidence of Russian Collusion in the Mueller probe so far = ZERO {<hhh]

'Cause you know....that's what this whole thing is originally about. Just saying.
Russian Interference. If you think adulating Putin as the Republican candidate, while trying to make a Moscow real estate deal and reportedly offering to gift him the penthouse as a sweetener, doesn't show corrupt intent I can't imagine what will sway your opinion. Granted Cohen may be lying but if they have evidence that supports his claims this will be a major hurdle for Trump to clear.

A billionaire looked into building a tower in one of the biggest cities in the world and then didn’t build it. Even if he built 50, that would mean nothing.

The people acting like this is a big deal are just projecting their own hatred for Trump.

The reason why the media has gone full steam ahead with this latest story is because they’ve realized that this is all Mueller has: something that isn’t illegal.

Literally everything he has found is stuff that has been caused as a result of his investigation. None of this stuff was a crime before he started trapping people who didn’t know how to give an interview.

More important than the perjury (which is important) is that this latest info seems to establish that Trump was actively negotiating with russians during the campaign for his own personal enrichment (Trump Moscow) while at the same time asking them to 'get Hillary', while at the same time offering Putin directly a $50MM penthouse amongst other potential perks.

Even Trump seems to now have switched to admitting he did but saying "I was allowed to do business..."

This is a good summary if you can get past the person reporting it.

But, but, but, Trump keeps saying they found no evidence of collusion.... doesn't that negate an ongoing investigation just by him saying it over and over again at rallies?

oh my, that was painful to listen to. That guy is really stupid. "Separation of powers" lol. The levels of gov't are Separate but they are MORE IMPORTANTLY a check and balance on one another. Some one needs to tell this dufus that the Separation of Powers is not a protection from one another, power. It means they have their own unique mandates and powers or 'areas of authority'.

Ya accept you can't do that while you are on the campaign trail. And you cannot negotiate with Russians including one of their State Banks that the US gov't expressly forbids US companies dealing with. You can't set up numerous quid pro quo's, asking them to invest hundreds of millions if not billions, while asking them to interfere in an election to derail your opponent, while your Campaign Manager, son, daughter and Son in Law are meeting with a Russian intelligence intermediary. And then after getting elected changing american foreign policy to more Pro Russia, praising Russia, trying to end the Magnitsky Act, while destabilizing Nato and attacking prior Allies.

When taken as a whole that is all highly illegal.

When you say "get Hillary" are you talking about the comments he made during the campaign or is there evidence he communicated privately with them and said this?
