Coffee

Find a naturally processed Ethiopian light roast and a washed south American dark roast and make a cup of each then try them side by side. You'll definitely notice that the Ethiopian is a lot more fruit forward and slightly acidic while the south american is more traditionally roast forward with some dark chocolate notes. Look up "cupping" if you really want to learn how to differentiate between coffees.

What's the coffee made from beans dipped in monkey shit?

My man! I did the same. Why drink coffee if you have to drown out the coffee flavor.

That small step made me realize I could delete all sugar from my life. Then I deleted most carbs.

I lost 50 pounds of fat in 6 months. And it started with one cup of coffee.
Good for you mate! I’m definitely conscious of how much sugar is in everything, and I am also starting to cut. I was in a car accident in Sept and I’ve been pretty inactive since, and as I get back to physical activity i want to cut carbs and start shedding some pounds.

I have the Lavvazza crema e gusto. It's pretty good but I can only tell the difference between bad coffee and not bad coffee.

It's interesting how the way wine is tasted varies because of historical reasons. First nose, second nose, retronasal olfaction during tasting. You have to concentrate to actually perceive the subtle aromas the wine supposedly possess. It feels a little bullshit in some cases. Although sometimes it's not bullshit e.g. old Riesling really does taste of kerosene, wine aged in new toasted oak barrels really does take on very noticeable aromas, etc.

But for whatever reason we don't extend this mindfulness to the tasting of other beverages like coffee. Maybe we should, we would appreciate them more.

Wow. I had a medical condition in 2018 that caused me to be inactive for 6 months. I was depressed and ate and drank too much. I got to 195. Then I cut out sugar when I could move. Then went clean keto with fasting. Holy shit. The fat just melted off, and now my taste for food has changed. Processed stuff is gross. While foods are great. Low carb is great.

I currently have this.

I want to try this, but it was out of stock.

I like to drink Illy coffee at café's.

Because it tasted so good I bought a Illi coffee machine that you need to fill with Illy cups.

But those Illy cups are so expensive that I paid 50 Euro's on coffee each month.

That was too expensive for me. That's why I now use a normal coffee machine with Lavazza ground coffee. That cost me 7 Euro's each month.

Bud, you should get a grinder and buy beans. The coffee will be that much more fresh and it will generally won't be as expensive as the Illy cups, unless you buy the most expensive beans around.

Whatever you drink, drink it black.

Sugar and creme are for girls. You're drinking coffee, not a milkshake.

The only preference I have is that it not be too watery nor bitter. Anything in between is fine by me

How expensive is a grinder?

You can get a grinder for 30 euros. But probably can get a good one for 45 euros. I think mine cost that much. You should just look at the reviews and stuff like that to find a good one for a decent price. It depends on how much coffee you drink. You can do a long time with one bag if you don't waste coffee beans to make coffee. You generally can get a bag of quality beans in the 5-10 euro range. Especially if you keep track of any discount actions at supermarkets. You can also go to koffievoordeel.nl which has great coffee and often no delivery costs.

It’s called Luwak

a coworker brought some back for me from his trip to Indonesia. It was alright. Nothing special.

obligatory “this coffee smells like shit” gif from Austin powers.

Coffee is like mother’s milk to me. A nice strong tasting dark roast is my choice. Grind the beans and add a pinch of salt and cinnamon to it before using the French press.

Helps keep me full after going in on a vegetarian(lacto-ovo ish)diet.

You shouldn't get a blade grinder but a burr grinder. A decent one is much more expensive unfortunately but it depends on your needs

It isn't bullshit, there are scientific reasons for how and why you get those flavors. The altitude the coffee is grown, the density of the bean, toe way it was processed, and the way it was roasted all bring out different flavors.

Is that why coffee beans squeezed out of a bat's ass are so expensive?

That would be a weasel, and that is a different story. Actually kind of a sad one as now there are places that force feed the animals coffee and keep them in horrible conditions.
