Coach: Jon Jones Deserves to Walk Away from MMA 'Any Time He Wants'

No way Jon agrees to defend against Tom. He is way too worried about his record. Everyone knows Jon is done.

I think there is a greater likelihood that Jon gets smoked by an asteroid after the ref yells "Fight!" than there is the chance that Stipe beats Jon. I like Stipe, but for fuck's sake... having the undisputed title on the line makes this fight a fucking joke. I really hope and pray we get the upset, but this isn't HW-champ or 35 year-old Stipe.

Jones is pretty much dogged at this point right now and is in a lose-lose. At the tail end of his career, he successfully avoided any real challenges just to protect his record. His rep is going to take another hit if he retires instead of unifying, and the alternative is to fight the person who is probably going to smoke him.

I am pretty confident Aspinall is the superior HW fighter. Tom definitely wants to fight out, and Dana wants Jon to find out, I can't wait for this Jones/Miocic experiment to be over.

Jones would get finished vs Aspinall I bet.

People forget Jones nearly lost against Reyes and Santos. And Aspinall is way bigger, faster, stronger, more powerful, and more complete than either of these guys.

The only real question here is whether Jones values his ‘undefeated’ record more than tens of millions of dollars to fight Aspinall.

Don't get me wrong, I would love for the fight to happen, but a quick win over Asipinall does nothing for Bones's legacy.

Pico already set his HW legacy in stone from his own decade-long actions,

COWARDICE - 180 degrees opposite of the ex-ufc Champion Francis.

Strip Jones of the belt and then he can do whatever he wants.
This is the only logical and sensible conclusion. Which must be why Dana can't grasp that.

Anyone paying $90 to watch a fight between Stipe and Jones knows exactly what they are getting. It's not like that piece of tin being on the line is going to be the deal-breaker when it comes to people buying the event or not.

It's true his LHW legacy is the only one that matters and its over with. We've seen everyone shift what HW is the one to beat Jones so much, depending who is on a win streak at the moment, but really people just want the chance for a HW to clip Jones so he doesn't leave undefeated. HW is such a weak division and the longest defense streak is only 3 in UFC, I don't see why Jones couldn't break it. Aspinall hasn't shown world class TDD, actually no one at HW is really an amazing wrestler really. But if Jones knows he's not getting through training camps like he used to, then best to hang it up rather than ruin your legacy.

I think Jon is gonna fight Tom if he wins two weeks from now. I think the money will be too good for pass up.

I would love to see it. I really would. And I do believe there is a minute chance a Jones/Aspinall fight comes to fruition though. If Dana already knows the number Jon will take and approaches Jon first... Jon could end up on the surprise end of title fight he doesn't want or expect.

Aspinall would probably take that fight for free just to get the opportunity, he won't price himself of that fight. He wants to prove himself so badly.

With a TARNISHED legacy...years from now..they'll look back and think and say...what were they doing allowing this cheat to fight for their organization....MMA seems to be the only legitimate sport where the fans as well as the participants think a proven cheat is thr greatest 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆
Comical.

Jon's contract right now is so lucrative that he makes per fight what he use to make in 8 fights at start of his title reign and 4 fights towards the end. He made 3 mill base + 4 mill bonus + PPV for Gane. When a fighter is making per fight money that sets him for life like that, it hard to turn down 8-10 mill a fight. Those are some big boosts financially for him, he fights Stipe and Tom thats roughly an extra 20 mill.

He should go right now. Become a pro wrassler. Fight Brock and The Rock

I don't know what he's making per fight, but if he told Dana he wanted $12m or else, Tom would probably give him 2 million from his end just to get that fight.

That would be a fun phone call.

Dana - "Hey Jon, it's Dana. Just so you know, Tom took the fight, we'll do the $12m. See you in March!"

Jon - "Fuck me"

It absolutely does at HW, No need to lie to yourself. Instead of being universally viewed as having accomplished borderline nothing at HW, and being a ducker of epic proportions, he would prove that he'll face the next generation of up-and-comers (in Tylenolaspirin). THEN if he retired, he still wouldn't be anywhere near HW GOAT, but that kind of ending on a high not, in a different division, would be huge for his legacy. . . . beating or losing to an already retired middle-aged ex-champ coming off a brutal KO loss 4 years ago....not so much. And that's fairly objective.

I agree but he's dragged out this meaningless HW belt fight for long enough now, happy for him to fight but either defend the strap or give it to Aspinall, he's nearly cleaned out the division as it is.

Lets hope he either retires or fights Aspinall after this fight, would love to see him win in impressive fashion just for the collective butthurt its gonna cause.
