Oh geez. I don't care for Rubio, but he's got some good things going for him- he doesn't swallow the rustiest part of the far right hook, and is a sane person who I don't think is a bigot. Him getting pushed to a tight race is another early sign that the Trump affiliation is going to damage republicans.

I don't see anything good about Rubio. Complete empty suit, IMO. A lot of people on the left (myself included somewhat) were worried about him, but the campaign exposed him as having no substance or core. Also, seemed like he was the choice of the smart GOP policy guys, but that edge evaporated with his proposal to eliminate all taxation on capital (both terrible policy and bad politics, even for a GOP primary).

The WR itself has become a shit hole because of this race. It's just two sides trying to defend two unpopular candidates at all cost. Just kinda have to strap in and survive the next 3 months.

But it's not a wash, no matter how bad conservatives want it to be.

Hillary's your standard bad candidate. Not very confidence-inspiring, some very clear question marks.

But Trump's the worst candidate in a generation, possibly in history. This means his supporters have to resort to outrageous fabrications and exaggeration in order to bring Hillary down to his level. She's a criminal with a hundred bodies on her! She's masterminding political assassinations and has all the media in her pocket!

I do have respect for the few dignified conservatives that admit Trump's an unmitigated disaster and in no way fit to be president despite him being on their side.

The GOP voters threw away a very winnable election. Hillary had the stacked resume but she is an awful campaigner and only could've looked this good against someone as bad as trump.

This election has become either a sane qualified corrupt liberal or a nutty unqualified corrupt liberal. Conservatives should realize their own primaries derailed them before the general election and make a choice that sustains the health of the country. I actually believe the party who wins this election actually gets hurt in the long run. I think Clinton is destined to be like bush sr and only last one term off the popularity of her predecessor and the weakness of her opponent.

The convention bump polls have fallen off the RCP average, leaving Hillary +6.6. FL, IA, and GA have tightened up a little but still favor Hillary.

Just watch how blue the west coast gets in November. Trump in all likelihood could lose Utah (due to third party), New Mexico, Colorado, and Arizona or at the least the majority of it. I still thinks it isn't likely but you have the instance of even Texas flipping. Even without that, losing those four states is awful

Maybe, but that's assuming that the GOP can come up with a charismatic, moderate figure like Bill Clinton in 2020.

I guess anything could happen but it doesn't look very likely. I mean, the guy that came in 2nd in the primaries is even scarier, more polarizing and more dangerous than Trump! If Trump had just edged out a moderate then yeah, maybe you could argue that in 2020 they could have a shot. But their top two guys were both rabidly far-right. And given the nation's demographics, that's the exact opposite of what you want.

This election is basically LBJ vs. Goldwater all over again. LBJ had his fair share of controversies but still got a good amount done and absolutely trounced batshit goldwater.

LBJ was what people wish Trump was.

I guess you'd have to consult historians but I think even Goldwater was more sane than Trump.

First, he was a longtime senator so he had political experience and had knowledge. Trump is a fucking reality TV star and businessman who's shown to be completely unfit. Second, Goldwater had far-right positions but I'm sure they were within the party's line. Trump has so many Republican defectors it's unbelievable.

And finally, Trump's about 100 times more vulgar.

This is the best

Spot on imo

Winning choice would be a Scott Walker-type. Someone that can really dig into the swing states.

Cruz was worse for the country than Trump could ever be.

You almost have to respect the GOP for rejecting the establishment candidates in the hopes for some positive change. Sadly, the GOP didn't have a Bernie Sanders, a guy they could believe in who was also fit for office, and they got stuck with Trump. Shit, the last 2 dogs in that race were Cr-ooze and Trump... They were fucked before Trump even won the nom.

I got a kick out of that. Reminds me of an old business partner/mentor of mine. He was a wealthy good ol' boy from the midwest who made his way through the finance industry after he retired from the military.

And he sounded just like that. Matter of fact, direct, and knew what he wanted and would repeat it 5 or 6 times. Even for small things that I would consider trivial, he was always very precise and direct.

The bitch is sailing away. It's so bad we have shills trying to point to propaganda poll sites that literally try to fool stupid people by writing, "Unbiased longview" under every single graph and chart. Holy shit. I can't imagine how stupid you would have to be to share that.

"B..b....but did you see! It says 'unbiased'! Your polls are biased! My poll that has Trump winning is the only poll we can trust!"

I feel I should point out my vote was who I think those yahoos will vote for, not who I want to win.
