I would vote for just about any person with a brain over Donald Trump. His temperament alone leaves him so unfit to hold the office its comical.

Trump > Cruz

Trump's a wildcard so there's SOME chance that he could do a few sane things. Cruz is completely coherent in his authoritarianism and desires for theocracy. There's zero doubt as to what he'd do.

The hilarious/scary thing is that in 2020 he'll likely be in the running again.

Our good Petey is a middle way guy, imo.

I agree that Trump > Cruz as I think Cruz may be the worst person alive to hold the office

The TPP issue is one of her most annoying positions. I see it as something that has positives and negatives that balance out pretty evenly, but no one is making the case for it so people who don't follow this stuff much or have underlying knowledge necessary to evaluate it are under the impression that it's some kind of disaster. I don't think "flip flop" is accurate, as of course she's going to say positives things about it while it's in progress and she's part of the process. But she should at least acknowledge that there's a serious discussion to be had.

The NAFTA discussions are also pretty topsy-turvy. Generally regarded as Bush 41's greatest accomplishment by people in both parties, but a lot of WRers see it as unambiguously bad and blame the first lady of the following administration (and, to be fair, one of its most important staffers).

Orwell's essays should be required reading in schools, as they're the best guide for the kind of post-truth world we seem to be entering.

People don't blame Hillary for NAFTA, they cite her support for NAFTA as character evidence relative to her position and judgement on trade.

I spent the last few years building up an immunity to American politics.

As long as both candidates know never to get involved in a land war in Asia.

Again, this is just vacuous nonsense, peddling a mood over a plan.

What is your vision of what's best for the country? How do you best get there? Those are relevant questions, and understanding the issues and thinking enough to have an opinion is hard work. If you encourage people not to work hard, you'll succeed, but you're not doing anything good.

Flip flop was more to point out that she gets categorized in extremes as either lying or flopping when she is really giving a fig leaf to the left while keeping wiggle room on it. That happens when you try to govern from the center so I am not at all upset about it, especially with regards to trade, who nuance I think flies by most people. In the worst light I am choosing between hyperbolic isolationist who has no solutions and a leftish centrist. And in the one are where she may not be great (FP) we have amateurish Caesar politics as the alternative.

I'm pretty sure the only thing Bill invented was a better way to diddle the White House interns, and the most cunning embezzlement foundation of modern times.

We shall see who wins, but it's clear that Trump is activating inactive voters, while Hillary is simply hoping to get the support of a lackadaisical Bernie base. Gary Johnson and Jill Stein will likely take many of her voters away too.
Johnson is the more popular candidate, and cannibalizing far more GOP votes for Trump.

How so?

Johnson leans relatively far left; he's for open borders for chrissake.

Nah, it's a joke homey. It's not peddling anything.

Surely you've seen the Princess Bride?

If not... Sacrilege.

The sacrilege is using a great scene to make a point that's both tired and empty.

I hope he has plans to spearhead a new party. If Trump loses, the Republicans are fucked as a major force in Washington. And hey, if you want to put on a tinfoil hat, that might have been the plan all along.
