Clear up Middleweight

This is what happens in general because losing a title fight drops you one place in the rankings. It should drop you like 5 places for the division to keep moving.
That creates those patterns you spoke about where a guy loses a TS and then loses his next 2 fights and still top 5 and all the guys in the top fight fight each other for 3 years.

Inactivity should also be punished. Just look at Gaethje. After Khabib beat him, he sat out what? Over a year? Then he fought Chandler, got choked out again by Charles and now, almost 2.5 years later we still have him clogging up the top 5. He's even ranked #3 (!!!!)

Yup, agreed.
One year of inactivity should cost you at least 2 places.

Bo Nickle might even be able to plook both Alex and izzy right now

Same problem at 155. UFC matchmakers split divisions at a certain point and if your in the top set, you only fight those guys.

Good luck getting Poirier, Chandler, Charles or Gaethje to sign to fight you if your in the other set.
They really need to change the system to stop this, it isn't a coincidence. The top guys can use the excuse of not wanting a lower ranked fighter, just keep fighting aged veterans like themselves and maintain rank. You see people defending them too saying that they should do whatever makes sense for money and their career, but as fans it's basically creating 2 separate ranking systems.
