Oh, before I forget, quick shoutout to @Chubz: your youtube tutorials have been a lot of help getting started and learning some of the more advanced map building features. Good stuff!

Glad to hear they're still helping even after all this time! I really need to remake some of the older tutorials so that everything is watchable in at least 1080p60 quality.

EDIT: Finished it on god mode and did a clipping hunt for all the secrets. I had to go into the editor and I still could figure out how you're supposed to get to a couple of them. Might have to replay it on easy to try and figure it out; there's so many moving parts it can be hard to read in the editor.

hey there yeah I was kind of worried about the balance in terms of health and ammo up to the final showdown. Weere you just too depleted or was there just too many monsters to overcome

As for the secret yea I love to really hide them good. I always get a chuckle when somebody has to go to the editor to figure them out and then it's still confused haha

also check this out some other guy play my map and said it was his first attempt and he somehow survive with just 2% health at one point LOL



stay tuned someday down the road after this has been up for a while I'll do a playthrough that reveal the secrets and so on. Having having all the secrets definitely makes this a much easier map

Nah, wasn't a health/armor/ammo issue. I had 100 health 100 armor, 30+ rockets, 150+ cells, etc, when I got outside I just kept getting sniped by the archviles, and when I tried to weed them out first I'd get smashed by other stuff. Having the archvile by the BFG be inside and having to try and shoot him through the window while other stuff is flying everywhere turned obnoxious really quickly. I tried doing laps and letting infighting do most of the work for me but I'd inevitably get hit by all the projectiles winging around. I just don't have experience with that sort of fight and it lost its charm after ~10 minutes of trying different strats.

The archvile in the BFG room is only a small corner you can easily avoid and get back to later if you want. You should clear out all monsters outside (avoiding that small corner) before opening that outer red door. Once you open red door assuming you killed everything outside and it's safe you can bottleneck them with rockets. If the one archvile gets out avoid him at all costs running around building trying to target him most.

I’ve been playing Doom 2 on XB1 recently aswell - not pistol start but on UV - Doom 2 is so good. Currently on BloodFalls level, very hard!
 
So would there be any interest in trying to organize a friendly game of free for all death match among Sherdoggers that play on PC? I’m not sure how to go about doing that exactly, if we’d all need to be using the same source port to make it happen, but it could be fun. I haven’t played classic Doom death match in close to 25 years, because in the 90s I was always moving on to the next fps game:

Doom -> Heretic -> Hexen -> Duke Nukem 3D -> Quake - > Quake II - > Halflife-> Unreal Tournament - > Quake 3 - > Counterstrike

Could be a lot of fun, if not a little one sided as I’m sure our skill levels all vary greatly.

Yeah, you could get it off Steam. As to how we’d all be able to get a game going I’m hoping some of our more knowledgeable Doom guys would be able to figure out if we all need to be on the same source port etc.

Well obviously it won’t be perfect. If say 75% of respondents express interest I’d expect only about 30% of those to actually put in the leg work to try to make it happen, and then when it’s finally ready to happen about only half of that 30% to actually be able to show up.

Invite 100 people expecting 8 to show up. In this case invite 16 expecting 2 to show up.
