I'm doing Brutal Doom 64. I love it.
I'm doing Brutal Doom 64. I love it.
Dude nothing gets me pumped like Brutal Doom.Damn, haven't played Brutal Doom since version 20 I believe. I know a Brutal Hexen/Heretic was being worked on, but I'm not sure if it was ever finished.
Have you ever played Heretic Clippy? That was one of my favorites back in the day as a teenager after I'd played DOOM to death to get my FPS fix. It was the best of any of the clones I played:

You can play it via DOSBOX for free. Apparently the ports you can buy on Steam are awful DOS clones, so I wouldn't pay for them:

Oh man I made levels too. With code impI still play Doom quite a bit (25 years and counting; been at it since I was roughly 5!), but I mostly make maps/mods as well as level editing tutorials.
I'm working on an oldschool singleplayer level right now for Doom 2, with a working title of "Stronghold." Here's a look at the automap so far:

If you (Clippy) or anyone else would like to check it out, I'll try and update this thread when I'm finished. I've been working on it on/off for the past several months, but I'm finally close to wrapping things up.
Hey guys hey I don't think I ever made a thread in this section before
I don't really play games - er modern games. But I always been a fan of classic doom. This is a game I could play forever! When I took networking in high school we all just played doom all the time
Anyway I got some screen recording software and am attempting to beat all the levels with just a pistol start and 100% kills and secrets
I finished all four episodes of ULTIMATE DOOM and am now working on Doom 2
I just recorded this!
If anyone cares I'll keep updated if I manage to complete this

Hexen had the cool co op mode tooHeretic and Hexen were two of my favourite games in that era. Loved both of them. Nothing was more satisfying than turning your opponent into a chicken during death match in Heretic![]()
So @Clippy what are some of your favourite maps?
For Doom 2 my favourites are:
1. Level 29
2. Level 15
3. Level 11
4. Level 9
5. Level 20
For Doom 1 in no particular order it would be:
E1M3
E1M7
E1M9
E2M2
E2M8
E3M2
E3M6
E3M9
It's crack for a DOOM gamer. Worm also had a great thread about retro shooters being made he posted half a year ago:No I heard of it but never tried it
Don’t forget Chex Quest. It's crack for a DOOM gamer. Worm also had a great thread about retro shooters being made he posted half a year ago:
Retro “Throwback” Shooters
A quick thought about my fave levels
Ep 1 as a whole feels samey same throughout
I hate ep 4 with a passion
So I'll list these
E2M3
E3M4
E2M7
E2M9
E3M3
E3M6 is my all time doom 1 fave
Doom 2:
Maps 7, 8, 10, 13, 16
Don't remember much after that but will get to em as I play through
You like Map 9 - the pit? I HATED that level - to date it's taken me the most amount of time to play through. That super annoying room with the raising lifts are annoying AF
E3M6 might be my favourite Doom 1 map over all too.
Which room are you talking about on level 9 of Doom II?
Edit: never mind, I know what you mean. Yeah, that parts pretty gay.
The funny thing is my other four favourite Doom 2 maps all have in common is they’re all John Romero maps. GOAT level designer.
Dude nothing gets me pumped like Brutal Doom.
I play that and then I go out and kill people. Then I go to jail and work out
