And Jones isn't used to get hit and he will be struck by that lightning fast jab all night.
Yeah man, Gus sent Jones to the hospital but boy Gane is sending him to cemetery
HWs don't point fight. That's why it is the best division. This has point fighting written all over it.
I really think Jones is going to be at a loss for what to do other than shoot takedowns all night. And Jones isn't used to get hit and he will be struck by that lightning fast jab all night.
Interesting. Because a lot of people thought it was boredom that made the Reyes and Santos fights competitive. I guess the Game fight will let us know.Part of the problem is that all these people are still heavily influenced by what they saw a roided Jones do at LHW. When fighters fall off, they fall off in brutal fashion, and all the idiots look around at each other in shock. Jones’s best years are well behind him and this fight is going to be a brutal wake up call. The shock on his fans’ faces will be epic.
There is no fucking way he’s surviving five rounds with Gane. No fucking way.
Jones:
3 years inactive
Closer to 40 than 30
Been hugely successful, maybe not as hungry
Many of his opponents were easily discouraged
4/6 favourite, ATG, "undefeated" = more pressure
HW debut, has to bulk up (will his body adjust well?)
Career 205 pounder, made a career bullying midgets
DQ'd against Hamill, DQ-worthy offence against Smith
Every fighter/coach/ref has been watching him for ages
Failed to stop his last 3 opponents, no finish/KD since 2018
Lots of wear; pro debut in 2008, 15 title fights with 8 decisions
History of problems with the law, including in the last few years
History of problems with alcohol, sex and drugs, including in the last few years
Jones' last two performances have been close decisions (Santos, Reyes) and 6'4 strikers have given him his toughest and most competitive fights (Gustafsson 1, Reyes).
Gane is an active, prime, determined, disciplined, athletic, 247 lbs natural heavyweight, 6'4 with an 81 inch reach and is possibly the most skilled striker Jones will ever face, with experience in a very close 5 round distance fight in his championship debut against a much more dangerous opponent in Ngannou (who Jones probably wouldn’t ever fight).
"But wrestling"
Ngannou (who also took Stipe down) was able to take Gane down primarily because of his size and strength advantages and because Gane had to worry first and foremost about Ngannou's power, factors that won't be present at all against Jones. Gane will have also improved his wrestling in the 14 month gap. Jones scored just 2 TD's in 10 attempts with 101 seconds of control in 50 minutes against former welterweight Santos and greenhorn Reyes, men who are easier to grapple against than Gane and who’ve gone 1-7 post-Jones.
