Rumored Ciryl Gane plans to return in September and targets a fight with Sergei Pavlovich.

That is smart. Gane is going to outpount Sergei or maybe even get a late finish.

He just needs to avoid Blaydes and Aspinall.

Nooooo! A fight that potentially kills HW division’s top picture. Gane does not deserve it.

pavlovic needs to be in a title fight next. Hopefully he doesn’t take the unnecessary risk. But he may be down anyway lol
 
Nah I dont see it happening, I think Gane fights someone like Spivak instead.

I was thinking the same but then I said this is a great matchup. We all know Gane has a Grand Canyon hole in his fight game he has 0 TDD and becomes a fish out of water when he's on the ground. So the easiest way to beat Gane has been exposed by Ngannou and Jones. Lets see if Pavlovich has a ground game lets see if he can take Gane down lets see if he has submission skills this is the fight to prove it. Pavlovich has only KO'd people he has never submitted anyone in his previous fights he could just be another Gane. If Pavlovich is just as bad as Gane with ground skills he to would lose to Jones or Stipe.
 
Why would the UFC do this? If Gane wins, no way they can sell Gane vS Jones 2. Jones would retire first. And the division would look weak.

Usually the UFC makes fights that make sense on either side of who the winner is. So it’s win-win for them regardless.

Pavlovich on the other hand has already built himself up as the #1 challenger with five consecutive 1st round KOs and proved himself against a wrestler too. The fight is simply large risk, little benefit in every way.

Exactly! If Pavlovich wins, it’s great. But if Gane wins we lose Pavlovich and Jones retires, and the division looks incredibly weak. All time weak.
 
Thats a great fight. Both big athletic monsters. Ganes striking is much more technical and dynamic and he has withstood Ngannous power, while Sergei is much heavier handed and has wrestling to fall back on.

No Pav nuthugger here, just the reality of his Sambo and Greco Roman background assures he can wrestle, no doubt. His offense has demolished most of his competition with nothing else needed. Since 2019 he has KO'd every one he faced, including Blades, Lewis, and Tai, in the first round.

 
Cyril might be a problem for Sergei. Classic bull and matador situation. Cyril is elusive enough to not get caught and Sergei might not have the takedowns to ground Cyril.
 
Gane doesn't deserve this fight

he needs to win against someone who's not the number one contender
