Ciryl gane fight IQ is off the chart.

Your skills and fight IQ will only get you so far. Sooner or later somebody is going to tag you. Can he rebound from a clean headkick like GSP did? Can he take Ngannou’s power like Stipe did at least 5 different times?

There is one HUGE unanswered question regarding Gane. Can he take a flush shot to his chin from the best fighters? We certainly didn’t see Lewis land his power shot. Which is exactly what I predicted.
Does it even matter if his defense is good enough? Against Ngannou having a neanderthal chin won't save you, ask Rozenstruik.
Also, he took some hard clean shots from Volkov and reacted well.

this is an interesting clash of styles. Athleticism, strength and power vs Athleticism, speed and flexibility. Simple fundamental techniques vs diverse creativity.

Both men have a good chance of winning. Gane's style overloads opponents with information. Volkov did best in round 1 and so did Bigi Boi and Boser before Gane's vast array of strikes, timing and adjustments took over. Ngannou does his best work in rounds 1 and 2.

Ngannou's a counterstriker but now his bum rush that he used against Miocic and Bigi have become much more measured and scientific blitzes, but Gane's movement and range is specially made for him to land his own and get out of the way of his opponent's strikes.

If Ngannou can implement good feints, he has a chance of catching Gane early. If Gane can be defensively sound before he finish downloading information, the chances of him winning becomes very good indeed.

Francis via right hand KO to the temple.

I mean let's not get over ourselves, he was fighting one of the most basic guys at HWs whose plan never changes - plod forward and hope to land that one huge punch. A fighter's IQ shines when he needs to fight another intelligent fighter and adapt on the fly or when faced with adversity that throws the fight plan off the window.

There's nothing particularly exceptional in what he did to Lewis.

Gane is definitely athletically gifted and nsturaly talented to be a heavyweight mma contender so quickly to the extent that he has the most of such talent among the current batch of heavyweights but what he did to Lewis while very good and competent, it wasn't paradigm busting in the way that cassius clay was like.

The one thing he lacks above all is one punch knockout power. He beat Lewis more out of disheartening him than physically overpowering him. Lewis got hit many times and barely laid a glove on gane. Having said that he didn't hit Lewis particularly hard with any of his punches.

why do i find people calling Ali Cassius Clay so snobbish? I get it, you know he used to be called Cassius Clay.

Gane seems to be the goods but , as usual, let's pump the brakes.Ciryl has yet to do anything to earn this incredulous title. Franny & Gane are a dead pk'em fight as both are stand up fighters and in their time. Looking forward to a date . I don't know what to make of Jon at this point. He definitely wasn't anticipating a Ciryl Gane to show up at heavy. My opinion could change but right now if you're giving me a chance to bet Francis Ngannou even up, I'm taking it.

It's quite disrespectful to refuse to refer to someone by their new name if it is from a religious conversion/rite.

I can understand not wanting to use certain nicknames, or unearned titles.

Who will be able to possibly solve that puzzle ? The only I might see is Jones and he will have to work a lot and not try to cruise through a decision.

I see alot of solid coaching and reps put in at the gym. Where's the fight iq

He said post fight that the leg kicks was not in the gameplan, but in R1 he pokes with light leg kicks to see Lewis reaction, saw that Lewis did nothing to defend those kicks so he went full power later in R3 ,that's adaptation and fight IQ.
