Not really. If true he should have retired after the first round. Fighting on an exploded big toe is stupid, a major injury risk and a guaranteed terrible performance.

That's no excuse, it's part of a fight, even if unlucky. But it can explain the subpar performance.

Not where they go from there... He did not look to take Aspinall. I think Blaydes is the better choice right now for Gane, and he might do fine, Blaydes is not a fantastic grappler.

As for Aspinall.... Jones is the one and only fight to make. If Jones declines, he should be stripped and they make Aspinall vs Pereira for the vacant undisputed belt.
