James is a dad now, which is likely his main priority. Mike and his aligned business partners have proved to be dependable at providing competent weekly content. Would like to see Ryan in more videos though.

Oh yeah, Mike is fucking awful. At least in front of camera. I think he's a big part of the team behind the scenes though, with editing and artwork.
It's funny though, sometimes when they're on together, you can just sense the jealousy, and Mike desperately trying to steal the spotlight.

Overall though, AVGN has run it's course. It's been hit and miss(mostly miss) for a while now. Pretty sure James would even agree as he's been trying to grow his channel into more of a variety show channel like RLM, but shit, you ain't gonna quit your bread and butter that nets you 1M+ views almost instantly.

I don't see any jealousy from Mike Mattei. But I do see him in solo videos. Not as good as him playing with James though.

Christ, i cant stand them. That said, i was massively disappointed with this years monster madness. James needs an edited script and to stick with footage of reviewed movies.

I am actually more of a motherfucker mike fan now. Hes infinitely better at games, making me think it shoulda been him this entire time being the game reviewer.

James has a family life, yadda yadda, then retire it and have Mike take over. Even his AVGN vids have been too over the top for me to enjoy.

Stick to the basics.

I too used to watch almost everything hes done. I was an angry video game playing kid when i was younger.. shit, still am, so i empathized with his frustrations on a lot of the games he played. But then, to keep things fresh, he sought out just terribly made games. Ya see, that i didn't like. I didn't play those games and if they sucked, it couldve been blamed on developers.

It was not until motherfucker Mike played along side him and even doing his own streams. It was then i realized James just sucked at games. I could not fucking believe he couldn't beat metroid.

Those James and Mike play Monday's were times that i just innately knew just what to do in the games they were playing, even if i had never played them before, and again, i noticed Mike was the one making the better gaming decisions than James. I literally start pissing and moaning when James keeps fucking up doing the most minuscule things. Fuck, i remember some game they were playing when they didn't see the obvious info to play a game when it was on top of the screen. They both pissed me off in that one, but Mike eas still using the better instincts.

Damn, what game was it. Goonies II? I believe whatever game it was, they ended up doing an update or a recap on their following video on the missed icon.

He did beat Ghosts 'n Goblins on the NES and Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts (SNES), I think he's way better than an average player.

I still enjoy the videos, and I think it's incredible that it can still be good after all these years. Most TV shows suck if they're on for too long.

As for the topic, AVGN and Cinemassacre are a guilty pleasure these days. The scripts are more hit or miss than they used to be. It's only normal when it's been over a decade since he started though. Most people cannot beat those two games mentioned and those are just the hardest game I know that he has beaten. I haven't seen the Metroid one, or I don't remember. I don't care if he's good at that game or not, and it's one of my favorite games ever. Anybody who wants can beat that game.

I did see the Goonies II-video though, that was annoying but also funny.

I hadn't played Big Rigs, I'd heard of it as one of the worst games ever made, I thought that video was good too I hadn't seen anything about that game besides stills (You're winner).

Doug Walker produces lackluster content these days. Just look at his "review" of Pink Floyd's the Wall. Seriously he missed the point of every song. The quality of his videos continue to go downhill which is evident in this horrible Pink Floyd video.


Also all the shit that went down at Channel Awesome really made me despise Doug.

I don't get how anyone in their right mind can say Doug Walker is a better producer of content than James Rolfe. I love most all of James content and especially his yearly monster madness stuff.

The stuff he's done regarding raising money for his movie. Asking for $75,000, hitting that mark then asking for $250,000, then $300,000. Then he started asking for free locations to shoot the movie and asked to borrow different things from people.... After they just gave him $300,000.

He's also done some weird stuff like deleting comments on YT, removing ratings and comments entirely when he didn't like what was being said. There was some hypocritical stuff going on there I guess, I can't remember the whole story.

And in general, he just seems a bit full of himself. I've watched him interact with people and I've heard stories of him being a complete dick. I also don't buy he's that much of a gamer. This is the same guy who claimed you couldn't use a controller on a computer or sit on a couch and get comfortable and made several more ignorant comments about the PC as a gaming platform.
